Okay guys and gals looks like an interesting challenge here. My 05 2.7 has a hard/weak starting condition no matter the temp. The battery voltage and amperage is good and the fuel system has the URD high flow replacement. Already been in the tank to check and swap out the submersible fuel hose as per URD's suggestion and no dice. The fuel filter is fairly new maybe a few months old and the fuel pressure regulator and fuel rail relief is new. The plugs are only 2 months old and the truck turns over great but when it starts it seems as if the RPM is too low.

I'm thinking starter solenoid contacts need replacing but I'm unsure if that would be the only thing that could cause it.

    Any suggestions?

    No codes on the truck.

A little more information. On idle even when hot the exhaust smells a bit rich. Coil pack issues perhaps?

Check the plugs are tight. Could be a vacuum leak if it's running rich but I could be wrong. Good luck! [IMG]

Vacuum is good steady 21 inches. Spark plugs are torqued and sealing.

Years ago on a carbureted truck I had it seemed it was the EGR system caused that problem but again I could be wrong

I don't think the 2TR-FE has an EGR system. It does have an air injection system.
Thinking the valve or pump may be lazy.

I did rebuild the starter solenoid last night so I'm good to go in that department. Battery is definitely strong. Down to my last few things to cross out before I have to let it go to a dealership for further diagnostics.

Next step swap out fuel filter (URD fuel pump mod) it could be a bad filter.
Then add a check valve before and later after the fuel filter. As air could be entering the system via fuel fittings or bad check-valve on the fuel pump.

I'm hoping it's not the pump because I've been in the tank more times than I care to remember. Need a new tank nut and seal ring for the fuel pump module if I go back in there.

New fuel filter and quick connect fitting installed and when I left home yesterday morning it fired off better than it has been. Would not doubt the truck needs new coil packs as the truck was flooded gasoline vapor from the tail pipe.
I think the air injection valve is acting up because when it normally opens during a cold starts it causes the truck to rev sky high and it doesn't do that any more.

I do too but it's not quite true. Keg Legs is no woman in my opinion. It's a creature.

Well narrowed it down to fuel system bleed down. Thanks to Toyota for the added bump behind the standard 5/16 SAE fuel quick connect fitting and the extra length they use (compared to Chrysler and Ford) it was a pain to find fittings that would work. I honestly hate non-standard parts. This morning was the first strong start hopefully it stays that way.
