Alright, faces, what should I cook for supper in two days? Should I take chops out of the deep freeze and let them brine for a couple of days, or should I defrost a big old lump of Boston Butt and make pulled pork instead? I can't decide and the GF gave me her usual "I don't care" response.

Also, thinking 2 days ahead for a meal is insane. We think 15 minutes ahead.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. We are lucky if we remember to take something out to defrost before leaving for work in the morning.

 

Pulled Pork it is. Pulled a nice big piece of shoulder out of the freezer this morning to start defrosting.

I almost always have my meals planned out that far. Otherwise I wouldn't eat, lol. The stuff in the chest freezers takes at least 24 hours to defrost in the fridge, and that's where all of my meat is; I don't buy it at the store. During the winter & spring that's also where most of my veggies are. When we do rice & bean burritos I have to start soaking the beans the night before, or they won't be ready in time.

Really about the only things I don't have to plan at least 24 hours in advance are pasta & stuff that I've got canned, haha!

Yeah, me too. The GF might not like it, though...

Stuff takes almost 2 days to thaw in my fridge from the freezer...

 

At least a day for mine. Chops, ribs, steak take about 24 hours. Whole chickens take at least 48. The lump of pork shoulder I took out last night would take about 48 in the fridge, but I'll take it out and set it on the counter when I get home tonight to thaw the rest of the way.

 

Can I watch?

 

One primed - doing the other tonight. Had to sand the shit out of these to get some burrs off them.

 

Sounds like you did too much work. Who cares if there's burrs/a little slag on there. Presumably they'll get all scratched up anyways
