Getting ready for a camping trip. My biggest concern, believe it or not, is my morning cup of coffee. Anyone come up with a way to make coffee, or at least hot water, using the 120V outlet in the bed?

Any true caffeine addicts will understand my plight.

    1. Buy a camp kettle
    2. Bring ground coffee
    3. Pour coffee and water in kettle
    4. Put in or near fire to steep
    5. Serve, let the grounds settle, cowboy coffee

    Dont be a little b!tch about it...lol

Yeah...I live in a dry state. Starting a forest fire is a bitch, too.

The same shit everyone else has.
I use one of these to boil water -

Its not as nice as a Jetboil or as efficient, but it gets the job done. I can typically have a cup of coffee ready between the time it takes me to roll outta the sleeping bag and the time I need to take a dump.

I use an old school percolator.
    Perfect coffee every time .
I have about 3 of them , easy to find at a thrift store, no paper filter necessary.
Some are plug-in, some are stove top.

I have an old Svea 8R that is dedicated to warming water for the French press. I actually have accumulated two of them, cool little stoves. The coffee prep setup is housed in it's own luggage and is always either in the truck or ready for quick deployment.

Put your egg shells in the coffee while it heats up. They neutralize the acidity and make it taste better.

If you are referring to the old Svea 123 or 123R, it has all the technological advanced features of a 1930's blow torch. It'll boil two cups of water in about 6 or 7 minutes, which includes the 1 minute prime. The one I have is dead-on reliable at 11,000 elevation and at freezing cold temps, but you know the newer propane stoves will boil the same amount of water in less than 2 minutes.

If you have an old Optimus 8R, it uses similar technology.

No camp stove? I've tested a few "hot pots" with the 120 volt, but no dice. i have an ancient stove top percolator, but a stainless french press works better.

Why not plug a coffee maker in the AC outlet like I suggested?

Caffeine pills. $5 for a bottle full of 200mg tablets at the grocery store, pop one in the morning and off you go.

That's always my backup plan, anyway. Camp stove works well for heating up a cup of water for a spoonful of instant coffee.

I use an old school percolator on a coleman stove top. In a pinch, I will tell you that the Starbucks instant coffee sleeves taste pretty good. They don't taste nearly as bad as the other instant coffees out there, nor do they taste as strong and as bitter as the other starbucks coffees at the stores. I always keep them on hand for power outages/ etc.

This is cool it's just like the MSR Dragonfly multi fuel Burner. But old . Probably the original. Or were they copied from.
