I had placed a deposit for a 2016 DCSB OR MT, and received a call from the dealership yesterday that they received an allocation for it as a 2017 and I would be getting it sometime in September. I had placed the deposit about a month ago. They told me they would keep the pricing we had already negotiated on the 16.

2017's don't start production until next month, so if it was made in July, it's a 2016.

My information is typically from the parts side of things and/or from pre-launch information. I wouldn't be too concerned if we're talking about several days here or there. I don't have exact factory changeover day information, etc.

I ordered mine in April TRD OR 4X4 MT DCSB and have not got my order yet, was told when I ordered back then that if I waited till May that I would be getting a 17 in August or September. I think the cutoff was around that time frame (May), but I did pay $300 more because I was paying the 17 prices already in April. $.02

I would be highly suspicious of that option/unlikeliness of the OR having the same headlights as the PRO, one of the selling points of the pro is the "black chrome or black" bezel on both front and rear lights and is almost always exclusive to the PRO, sorta like the limited taillights are exclusive to it. Toyota is conservative and usual follows same patterns/suit.

I have been negotiating with a dealer for a 2017 order, they told me last week that Tuesday 7/26 would be the day that pricing would be released. They're supposed to call me. That day has come and gone and I haven't heard back from them yet. I'll let y'all know if there is any new news..

I'm heading to a larger dealer in ATL on Saturday to discuss ordering a 2017 while my 4Runner is getting regular maintenance. I went to a smaller dealer (World Toyota) and I was told $2k deposit, at least 3 mos and you can only buy at MSRP (and was asked about 5x why I would ever want a manual transmission) plus I have no control over port options. We'll see what the 2nd dealer says.

Good move. Shop around until you are satisfield. I have been shopping around for a whole year. I must have went to about 10 diffrent dealerships from South Carolina to Maryland. One thing I found out if you want to order one dont go to a sales person. Seek out the inventory or web manager they would know what allocations are due to come in. Sales people dont know shit. All they want to do is sale you something that you dont want. Also I would try some the internet car buying sites. I finally ordered my 2017 on July 5th. I met with the internet manager of the dealership and it took 25 minutes to place my order with the dealership. He called me back two days later and said he placed my order for the next allocations coming to the dealership. He stated that the truck should arrive mid to late August. I also did not have to put down a deposit. I think you have better options in dealing with large dealerships than smaller ones. I think a dealership with large volumes of Tacomas are willing to work with you in order to make a sell. Good Luck.

Was this August 5th of 2015, because we're not out of July yet. And August 5th 2016 is over a week away.

I think he meant July 5th...unless he's a time traveler or an EXTREMELY patient person who likes to plan things out way far in advance.

Thanks - yeah, that's really good advice. I talked to my dad, who managed quite a few dealerships in his day, and he was surprised they let me walk off the lot without attempting to work with me on the price, especially when I was a) willing to wait a few months b) put a deposit down and c) ordering a truck with options that's in really high demand (TRD OR DC MT in Mag Grey with tow package), which means really little risk to them if I walk. Why would they let me walk away and allow another dealership to get my business? Just thought that was funny. I guess some dealers don't want to give up a potentially higher margin spot in their allocation for a special order. Anyways JMHO.

New here but I have a 17 coming in 2 weeks. TRD crew cab 4x4.

I tried to buy a 16 specced the same way. Dealer couldn't work out a trade with the dealer that had it so they said we have a 17 that will be here in two weeks and we will do the same price.

I looked at the spec sheet and the only difference was that it listed premium audio as an option. On the 16, I believe that was only an option with various tech packages?

You sure about the remote start? Because I was told by the parts department at Holman Toyota that Toyota is discontinuing ALL remote starts as an ad on option for all there vehicles.I was thinkng of getting one for my 16 and was told it was a discontinued item because they were having so many problems with them
