Had my 10k service along with the TSB reprogramming performed. It's classified on my paperwork as TC1601 which is the OP Code for TSB-0077-16. I can definitely feel more responsive throttle off the line and holding the gear much better before shifting. Delay from reverse/neutral to drive is completely gone so far. I'll report back in a few days, but so far so good.

Sort of off topic.. Nevertheless, I have an appt for the transmission tsb update. I wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Any other tsb out there?? Taking a day off work so would rather get them all done.

I know of the howling noise update for lower control arm. Any others? Or just these two.

    Thanks TW!

Thanks brother - I see the Army flag in your profile. I was at the dealer today in uniform (Army too) and I highly doubt they would tell me they fixed something, without actually doing it. Figured I'd double check w/the forum.

I can peel out now too. Funny. I've driven it for about 200 miles after the TSB. It is so much better than what it was. Before the TSB, I was just happy to have it regardless of the shifting issues. Now I enjoy driving it.

Hey, can you ask for a copy of the Canadian TSB and post it up? I'm sure my dealership here in Ont. won't look too far into it unless I give them something.

Youtube searched "2016 Tacoma burnout" and found nothing. be the first, upload a burnout and become an youtube sensation! Sadly, I can't because of the bedrack, rtt and other gear weighing me down. :D

What amazes me, is not so much the 3rd gen having enough ass to do a burn out...
It's the fact, ANY stock Tacoma can defeat axle wrap and wheel hop, making burn outs possible.

I unintentionally did a burn out pre-TSB update a couple weeks back trying to pull onto the busy Route intersection from our road. I was shocked. I don't recall if it was after rain. If you pound the pedal fast at take-off I think it can be done without the update. But the confused transmission is very inconsistent. It had not done that before when I had stepped on it. I tested a couple days ago post-update and was still able to do it, but it wasn't as good as the first one. Additional testing may be called for. ;)

I'm at the dealership getting my transmission flashed. Fingers are crossed. First time it fixed the park to reverse to drive, but still doesn't shift right.

Got mine done today. Definitely felt peppier / more responsive right after the flash, but I attribute this to the resetting of the ECU entirely. Too soon to tell regarding the "R to D lag and slam disaster" that these cars "featured" from the factory, but I will definitely inform y'all when I have more experience. Hard to make an unbiased decision right now without putting a decent bit of miles on her.

Of note is that I think I saw two different TSB's for 2016 Tacomas regarding transmission shit in their system. Could totally be wrong. At first glance I saw the TSB-0077-16 (this one), and then one line beneath it, couldn't catch the actual TSB number but pretty sure it mentioned shift flare on upshift between 2nd and 3rd. Definitely don't want to start rumors, especially since that NEVER happens on TacomaWorld, but I say this in hopes that someone can either validate or debunk me regarding another TSB?

Truck is still bad fu**in ass if you ask me.

Just got mines flashed at Findlay Toyota of Las Vegas. Adam is the man. Throttle feels more responsive. Don't need to apply much pressure on the pedal for a steady incline on the freeway no more. Got a boost in mpg according to my dash gauge. Hopefully this sticks because it feels like night and day now.

I wonder if the software upgrade changes how the computer translates pedal travel to engine output too?

A tip: if you want this done, bring a copy of the TSB with you. It's like they didn't listen to a word I said when I made my appointment or when I dropped the truck off. Truck sat there all day, they called to tell me I was all set, then when I got there they said they couldn't duplicate the issue, and the only TSB was for transmission fluid level. For some reason, I had to show them a copy for them to actually be able to find it in their system. Once they found it they agreed to do it while I wait, except they couldn't tell me how long it would take and I had to leave for an appointment. So I didn't get done today. Maybe next time.
