JBL deck - IPhone Mirroring

Is there any easy way to mirror your iPhones screen and audio onto the JBL deck's display in a Tacoma? I have seen it done in other trucks.

After some research, I found the following site selling a DIY mod that allows it. (See link below)

Has anyone used it? Reviews? Any other options out there?

I know it is illegal to have the display do this while driving.

following for info...id be very interested in running this mod if it works. i would say based on legality yes its probably illegal since dvd's playing on double dins are illegal.

Killer. Spendy but no doubt a bunch of R&D went into it. Wish it were wireless...

 

the only thing I don't care for is the fact that you have to access the apps on the phone rather then using the touch screen...

Our 2015 GMC Denali has the car play and allows the apps to be accessed via touchscreen unit. works nice.

This lost its appeal as I could not stream media via IOS devices.

 

yea but thats because he connected it via HDMI/AV . your radio is basically acting like a video of the phone. yea id love to be able to use the touchscreen on the dash but this is still an awesome set up.
im looking at creating one myself without spending 249$

 

If you do let me know how it goes. One nice feature is the ability to override the limitation of not being able to view while in drive. (While illegal on roads it'd be nice for friends in the truck with me while off roading)

 

I had posted this a while back. I have been relentlessly searching for alternatives on the web because $250 seems a little high for this kind of mod.

Has anyone come across any substitute products? Or, has anyone tried out the BeatSonic version?
