thx again. and yeah BIG difference man, much nicer look. I've been considering doing the same as
    opposed to replacing the wheels.

Did you put the new grill in? Can you remove just the bezel? I'm thinking of painting just that black
    and leaving the black-chrome alone.

I might end up getting the all black TRD Pro wheels off the 4Runner.

The grill is from the SR model. The grills are three pieces plus the emblem. It can be disassembled for a cleaner paint job but you might end up breaking a few tabs.

I kinda like the stock wheels, just not sure yet, so I may be going with tires & spacers as you did. I see some have
lost use of their tpms system, that's the 1 thing preventing me from picking up new wheels at the moment.

I just want to paint the bezel, so I'll have to take a look and see what I need to do, it'd be nice if I could just mask it off and leave it in place.

I'm not sure why you can't transfer the sensor to the new wheels.

some have but depending on the wheel, some won't accept the sensor. I'm not sure if it's the
angle that it needs to be seated in or what, I'm only going by what I'm reading at this point. I'm with
you thinking it "should" be just popping them in the new wheels.

I found some on eBay! I want to buy an SR Grill as well . I've seen a few go for about $200+ but $100+ for shipping ! Then there's some that are over $350 with free shipping . Not sure if I should just wait till aftermarket grills come out ?

Anyone swap the Chrome grill surround for a Black one on the TRD grills? How does it look?

I have a Barcelona Red TRD OR and looking for a picture.

(At the same time, I might go with a TRD Pro Grill set)

Have you considered Plasti Dip? I like the way mine turned out and it was significantly less expensive than a new grill and I don't have an unused grill taking up space in my garage.

Edit: Sorry - I just reread and saw you were looking for the surround; not the grill itself. Same thing might still apply though (Plasti Dip the old one).

What's the process then? Take off grille, remove emblem, spray, re-affix, rebuild?

Yep. The longest part of the whole process is waiting for the Plasti Dip to dry between coats.

How many coats did you apply? I'm assuming 2-3? Also, where did you find the TRD emblem? I've been searching for that exact one for months with no success!

T-Rex grill with black bezel. Blacked out all the badges and added the Tacoma on the tail gate. The windows have been tinted to the darkest law will allow.
Here's my answer to the cheese grader It's a T-REX grill.

I have an SR5 and I actually like the looks of the TRD grill... maybe it's just TRD envy
