Ford F250 Diesel on 44s > Craptor with 5.4

Gota go big motor, big power with a full size and the wimpy 5.4 just is a dog. Now the other option puts it over the 400hp mark, but personally I'd go Diesel or Tundy for the power and stick my own add ons in it.

Warranty..good luck with that and Ferd

This is just not true. The truck flew in and out of traffic. It jumped up to speed no problem. Off a light, if you hold it in first, it scoots. Will it blow your hair back. No. But from a guy who has a 466hp 68 Chevelle and a 501hp 69 Camaro, this truck runs great. If you are being told something different is just wrong. Period.

2. It drives like sh%t.
It drives great…really great. Not for a “lifted pre runner great.”… Just great period

3. Gas Mileage sucks.
This is true. Sorry. I got around 14.5 running 85-90 all the way down.

4. The Toyota Tacoma is faster
I don’t have numbers but I say BS! on this. It’s just not true. I had a 2008 v6.

Here is the real deal. No hype and no bullshi%. If ford wants 3k for 90hp I really don’t think it’s worth it. (my opinion) (there are exceptions) I am all in at 38K for my truck (Black--trailer brake, back up camera, sun roof, spray in liner) and I don’t think that’s a lot of cash given what I got. I would not want to be in this truck 50k. No way. No how.

If you are going to use this car as a daily driver, the 5.4 is a great ride… for less money. (i am sure the 6.2 will be amazing) For those that are towing or really plan to use these rigs in sand, then wait. I would if those were my plans. But I read all the back and forth and now I know for myself. Put it this way, If both motors were out, knowing what I know, and ford was sticking to the 3K, I would get the 5.4.

No spin, no bs, no hearsay...this rig works great with the 5.4. The trans does look for a gear from time to time but it’s NOT AN ISSUE AT ALL. I think people need to really drive one before becoming an expert. (around the dealership does not count) I was really worried after reading all the bad and untrue info. Hell, I thought I ordered a lemon. Its just not true, the truck is really well sorted out. If you have one on order don’t worry, you will love it.

I had a 2005 Tacoma 4.0. The GVW is 3360 lbs so with the tacoma being that much lighter, the Raptor is in no way faster on the street.
I know because I already made the mistake thinking I was going to have a faster truck. The answer is ..not even close. BUT if you're buying the Raptor hopefully for a whole different reason. If speed you want on the street then go down to the dealership and get your deposit back. If you want off road then stay the course.

Anyone out there changed their own oil filter yet?

Let me tell you, it's one mother ****** to get to, to get off, and to remove without flooding your entire skid plate with used oil. There is a small catch tray that, in theory, is designed to catch the oil that spills from the filter when removed. The only problem that instead of the oil flowing towards the front of the truck and into the catch tray, it spills towards the back of the truck and all over the underside of the aluminum skid plate. The little removable "window plate" in the front portion of the skid plate doesn't do **** when trying to get your filter off either.

It's a real mess when compared to my old 2006 Tacoma. The 4.0 L V-6 has a remote mounted oil filter that is easy to reach. There is also a catch funnel built around the filter assembly to drain the old oil into a drain fitting. Toyota really does their homework when it comes to the little details.

It's a good thing that Ford will be changing my oil for as long as I own the truck (for free*) because I wouldn't want to do that again. I decided to do the first change before the scheduled 5,000 miles.

* I got the dealer to throw in free oil changes & tire rotations for life when I bought my Raptor.

I also had a Tacoma (2006 TRD Double-Cab) and am having quite a bit of trouble getting used to the over-all size of the Raptor. I'm actually having second thoughts of whether I did the right thing by selling the Tacoma and buying the Raptor. I was very happy with the Taco but wanted to try something "different".

I've only put 200 miles on my Molten Orange Raptor but might actually think about selling it. I know I'd take a huge bath on the deal but someone here in AZ might be able to get a good deal on it. In AZ you don't have to pay any sales tax on a "used" car/truck. If I could get $37,500 for it I might let it go... My window sticker was about $39,900.

i have to give ford credit...i think this is the first ford truck that i ever liked the look of....it looks awesome...i hate that they put automatic gear shifts on some trucks in the middle console area...the toyo as well...that just doesn't look right to me...auto trannys should be on the column on trucks...just a pet peeve of mine...anyways i prefer manuals...but 40k is too much...and the v8 power would be great but 15mpg sucks...my toyo was 20k and gets 22+ mpg....less power of course but i never tow a trailer or anything...just put my atv in the back.....i dunno...i personally don't like the looks of any full size truck except the raptor...they just look like a truck for my granddad or something...i only like the looks of the tacoma and frontier...and now the raptor.....but then there's ford reliability...>.<....if they would ever fix that i might consider buying one....i mean i don't know anyone that has a chevy, ford, or dodge that got over 300k miles outta there trucks like i did my '88 toyo...until then i will never consider buying one made by ford, chevy, or dodge..i mean if you buy a new truck every 5 years then i guess you don't have to worry about it...but like the saying goes...you can buy 2 fords or one toyota...your choice
