A little background info: so I got some Wranger Duratrac tires installed (stock size) on my BFD wheels. Truck is a 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport, no lift, no leveling kit, suspension is all stock. My question is will I need fender flares or fender extensions because my tires now stick out 1/2 to 1 inches? Thanks all.

No you don't need them unless you want to drop the money for them and have the look. As long as they are not like 3-5 inches out you will be fine.

I personally like the look of a little wider stance. Do you "need wider fender flares" ?....that's up to your preferences. It just a cosmetic preference. One con is you might get a little more water/road grime sling on the side of your truck.

So will I be ok with passing a safety inspection on Oahu? Thanks again for the responses!

In Hawaii, technically your tires aren't supposed to stick out at all.

All depends on the inspector. My rear tires stick out about that much an he tagged me for it.

Good luck OP. Just go with a good inspection station. Let me know if you want a recommendation.

I had similar concerns when I switched to the TRD SEMA wheels, the new offset put the wheels .78" out from the stock sport wheels.

I was told as long as the tread of the tire was covered by the fender and the mud flap covered the tread of the tire to the center that I would pass. For my situation, the fender fit was good. (Checked with plum bob off fender). I ended up buying some husky mud flaps. They were shorter but stuck out just a bit more and cover the tread perfectly.

That last pic of your fender looks okay to me but be prepared to prove it with a plum bob. The safety guys actually put a 2x4 against my cousins fender to prove to him his tires were sticking out. This was mine.

You've got a 2015 so no safety check yet, was it the recon guys that tagged you? I heard those guys are allot more strict.

BTW, nice rig. I dig the fog light color, looks great on white!
