You won't hear anything positive about the K&N intake here :tumbleweed:
However, I actually have it installed on my truck and I love it.

I was going to go that route but that open design scares me so I ordered the K&N. I did order
based on the rep assuring me it was shipping yesterday, minutes ago I received the same email as
the other guys have 11Aug2016. I won't be using Auto-Anything again.

Just ordered the AFE from Autoanything. After chatting with them for a bit, they wouldn't honor the 20% discount, but I got them to give me 15% so it was $361.25 plus I also get the $50 Rebate. I think it was a good deal on a nice intake, can't wait to get it!

Problem with the K&N intake is they suck in hot air. They pull air from under the hood, your stock 16 intake is better in that respect. Wait for the AFE to come down in price and go for that one.

It can be had cheaper from auto anything. Wait. Little while it'll come down even more. Definitely not worth $450 for what it is.

It'll get cheaper. Shop around, I'm not in any rush, I'll wait it out. You may never see the price drop direct from AFE but you'll find it cheaper from another source.

I have had both and I personally liked the AFE better because of the non oiled filter and the box is closed in. Really though it is personal preference.

I've used K&N and they absolutely work. Specifically on my 2006 Wrangler Rubicon. I installed it pretty much right away, I really didn't realize how much it helped until the day I turned it in. I installed the stock intake before driving it to the dealer and sold the K&N to a friend. Significant difference in throttle responce after installing the stock intake back on it. Truth is, either will help but the enclosed AFE box that truly sucked in cooler air will just work better.

Why is it you guys don't like oiled filters? I've run them and still run them on a number of vehicles problem free.

the oil gets sucked off and gets all over everything. The material is also not as tight or dense as a paper/dry filter so they rely on the oil, which lets all kinds of stuff get by

Maybe if you're over oiling them? I've got a K&N drop in filter in my wife's truck, had one in my last Jeep, my Chrysler 300, my dads current jeep, and a bunch of other vehicles. Also ran a K&N complete replacement intake on a number of trucks over the years. Can't say I've ever had any issues with them at all. Washed and oiled every year. Allowed to dry over night before using the vehicle. Every one of them ran perfectly fine.

I had the k&n im my ranger and ya it was the best. However i did once over oil the filter and didnt give it much time to dry. It scuffed up my mas sensor and the truck would stall out. But i pulled it out and let the sensor soak in cleaner over night and voila, just dont over do it. I would recommend the spray oil instead of the drip bottle.
