Thought I would bump this thread with my info....

Snugtop Rebel with folding and sliding front window, pet screens, carpet and upgraded lock cost ~$2900 last year in Edmonton.

Thanks...I thought long and hard about which cap I wanted and it was down to this and ARE. I'm glad I went with Snugtop...the fit, finish and small details are (I felt) better than the ARE. The colour is damn near perfect and it's been a solid cap for a year.

Now just on to the OME (most likely) lift and a snorkel....just cause!

I got my leer legend, basically a 100r without a headliner and only a 5 year warranty. It was $1640 for my 04 ex cab. This was installed and the color matched perfectly. Too bad I need to sell it now, and I bought a 2005 that is in for frame replacement (8 months) might just put it on my 05 as the fit is decent from what I can see on here, just a little narrower.

After the last snowstorm I found out another reason for the boot: to keep the snow from accumulating in between, and totally obstructing the view. To clean it out, I need to either melt the snow in a heated garage (not available to me), or get all my gear out of the back, fold out the window, and then clean it (also not gonna happen). Boot it is then, and if the paint scratches, so be it, nobody will ever see it with the cap on.

I hear ya on the cost. I tried going to cheaper route and got screwed over a few times by the moulds not being ready or the dealer forgetting to order it when I had tight timelines, or the dealer telling me 6-8 weeks to get the canopy, this has been a 4 month process :(. I gave up and ordered the ARE canopy two weeks ago and am getting it installed in a few days time, cost was more but i am getting a canopy with a proven track record.

ARE/Leer have multiple dealers across the US/Canada, so if I ever have an issue with the canopy warranty work is easy to get done. The small independents as much as I would love to support them just don't seem to have their stuff together in the canopy world, lots of false promises, etc. Mind you that goes for the larger manufactures as well.

I got a leer legend for my old 2004 Tacoma and the colour matched perfectly. It was under $2000 after tax. Canadian.

This is what I wanted for my 07
    Colour match
Rear sliding window to match the Tacoma window
    Was thinking fishing rod holders
And the pet screen on the side windows

I got a unofficial quote would be 2000 plus before taxes
Unofficial being he didn't look it up or nothing just off the top of his head
Once I have the truck on the road then I take it in to get it done if it's under 2000

Pet screen are a waste of money.
Rear slider would be nice, I didn't get one. I know windoors were a lot per side. Every option was crazy over priced in my opinion, so I didn't get any.

If it was on a 2017 taco I might splurge, but I know I usually keep a truck a few years at best, and a base cap looked good and did its function

Why not just secure your dogs in the bed of the truck so they cannot get out of the window?

They come with screens. The pet screens are not noticeably thicker material. Even the guy at caps plus said they are a waste of money. I had my cap for my dog as well. The windows aren't that big to jump out of, but I have a Great Dane. He never pushed on the screens.
