New to 4x4, I purchased a 2015 Toyota, Double Cab, 4x4 and was wondering if I could upgrade to 17 inch wheels and some lift. First time out I crunched my trailer connection and tweaked my front skid plate. I'm thinking I'm a little low.

If you want 17s they will work

You can just run taller tires on the 16s. 17 alone only gets 1/2".

More sidewall is better anyway, for off road.

Before you lift as a cure...... its common to tear up the trailer plug, and the OE skids are not very robust. You might do a relocation mod on the plug and go aftermarket skid, then see how you fare in normal outings.
