NEVER take a salesman's word for it. Most of them are idiots who know nothing about cars in general. They just need to get their commission and that's all.

Right about that, that's why I asked here, I knew TW would be the best place to get the right info.

Can you change the title so it doesn't create misconceptions?

I looked at a black Mexico truck at the dealer yesterday and you're right, it was almost a semi gloss black. I was not impressed with the paint. They did have a San Antonio inferno they were delivering and the paint wasn't much better on it. The inferno had a really awful orange peel to it but the paint did have some depth unlike the black one.

Echo the sentiment of the salesman's cluelessness. My salesman had no idea that the tonneau was a factory item and that it was locking in several places. His line to me was "Do you want a job selling parts and accessories?" They don't usually sell cars and trucks to car and truck people. Having knowledge to them seems to take them back as if you're some sort of magical wizard.

Look on the plaque in the driver's side door frame. It tells you when and where it was made.

Finally! someone else see's what I've been pointing out. I know some may have a Mexico Black that they are satisfied with and they may have lucked out when theirs were made and some may not even notice the difference because there is nothing to compare it to, but there are trucks that should not have passed inspection. Those who have the semi gloss one's deserve better. $.02

Yeah, it looked like it rolled right out of the paint booth and skipped all the finishing and detail stages. The only way I noticed was because this truck was all blacked out, wheels, badges, etc. As I looked closer I realized the truck had no shine or depth to it at all. The blacked out badges almost matched the entire truck perfectly.

I am waiting on delivery for my truck, hopefully this Friday. Mine is a TRD OR DCLB and starts with a 3. Another dealer is trying to locate a truck for me with the same configuration but it starts with a 5. That VIN reads 5TFDZ5BN4HX50B798 which leads me to believe this a VIN of a vehicle that hasn't been built.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some MT made in Mexico.
1,4 and 5 VINs are US made.
Also all AC, DCLB and SOME DCSB are made in the US

    3 VINs are Mexican made.
MOST DCSB are made in Mexico.

FWIW, that website thinks my black DCSB TRD OR is a silver access cab long box if the picture it loads is any indication. It offers no detail information aside from year, plant and general model.
