So I bought a 2014 TRD Sport 3 months ago. Drove it for the first month loved it. A couple issues came up in that time:

    - Clock would reset to zero intermittently when engine was off
    - radio unit would shut off occaisonally when driving for anywhere between 1 - 20 minutes
    - when radio shut off, done lights would not work either (sometimes flicking the dome light switch on and off would reset the radio)
    - traction control off light would come on while all this was happening
    - passenger airbag light would also come on while this was going on

I took back to the dealership to get the problem solved. A week later I got it back and they said it was fixed. Issue with an aftermarket alarm that was improperly removed. Two weeks later it was back at it again.

I took it to a trusted shop for an oil change. While it was there I asked them to check everything out. I explained the electrical issue.

They said the main fuse box could use replacing.

I talked to the dealer again, this time insisting that we use the mechanic that I trusted. Dealer got me a used fuse box from a wrecker with the wiring harness' cut. He explained that the issue isn't the box, it's one of the components inside the box and that it was not difficult to remove and reinstall. I took everything to the trusted mechanic and waited 4 weeks to get my truck back (it was promised to be ready every Friday). Finally the mechanic calls and says that this isn't working out and that the box was wrong. They cut the wires on the harness and attempted to wire them in individually. After 6 weeks I got the truck towed to the shop that the dealer recommended.

The guy now working on the truck is having a tough time matching up all the wires and I likely won't have a vehicle for 3 more weeks.

Does anyone have any advice for a situation like this. It sounds like worst case scenario is to buy a new fuse box from Toyota for $4900. But that doesn't seem right from my perspective. I trusted professionals to deal with my vehicle and it left in worse shape than it went in.

I think you got hosed by both the dealership and the "trusted" mechanic. Get a lawyer...incompetent troubleshooting and repair by both.

Is this a warranty issue? With a 2014 it seems you should have some leverage. Well that was until your trusted mechanic got a hold of it.

    Are they splicing the wires?

    WTF!

If that is what they are trying to do your mechanic is retarded. And you need a lawyer.
