I got my recall notice for the rear leaf springs. I currently have 3 leafs. I'm being instructed to go in for an inspection to see if I need new springs. Has anybody been told they don't need the recall? If so why? What exactly are they looking for?

They are looking for the correct clips installed to keep the leaves aligned.

If you have three clips you will get the new springs with four clips.

    Andrew,

This topic has been talked to death here, so all you need to do is type in the search bar a few words and you will get your answer. Are you new to the internet, because if you aren't learn to use it better and not repost topics that have been beaten to death? :deadhorse:

Oh boo friggin hoo. Someone asks a question that has been asked before and someone cries about it instead of helping.
OP, as Jimmyh said, they are looking for the correct # and placement of retaining clips. If yours weren't changed with TSB springs that have the right clips, or "in good faith" before the recall was active, they probably will put you on the list to order parts.

Speaking of dead horse, get off your high one with that condescending crap. You don't have to reply if you don't have anything helpful to say.

High horse....LOL, more like "dead horse". Maybe I should be lazy and ask every question that comes to mind. I don't mind questions that aren't asked all the time, but I see this question asked all the time. I had the same question with mine and just searched it, instead of reposting a topic that is answer 100 ways. Suck it up and learn to use this website and sorry if I got your panties in a bunch for stating the obvious.

Do the US models get 4 leafs after the recall is performed? We've been replacing US models with 4 leaf packs at my dealer. So far parts are so backed up we're only repairing broken trucks.

I agree, mine took over 2 months to get into the dealership and my 3-leaf pack was replaced with a 4-leaf pack.

I don't understand why after 2 years of waiting for new leaf springs, Toyota is still having a hard time keeping up with the replacements. This recall can cause the gas tank to catch fire or lose pressure in the brake lines from a severed hose.:confused:

For a guy that don't like to answer a previously ask question, you seem to like to post a lot in those threads.

    Same as everybody else...
I guess I lucked out, it took about 2 weeks after the inspection for mine to get replaced. The dealers service parking lot looked like a TW member meet, there must have been 10 other Tacos there. My neighbor works at the dealership and he says they order the leaf packs by the dozen.
    Good luck with truck.

I actually got my notice back in May but I'm going to wait a few months to do this so they can work out the kinks. Seems like a lot of people have issues before, during, or after the replacement with their sourcing, schedule, and installation. I figure it took them 2 years, What's another few months.

Technical instructions for the leaf recall. Shows what they're looking for, specifically the number & location of pack clamps.

I got 4 leaf packs to replace my original 3 leaf. I do not have TSB packs to start, so they are an upgrade from my perspective.
