QUICK QUESTION ON CV AXLES

Installing new CV axles from NAPA and I want to know if it matters to line up the splines on the CV and the front end/hubs. The splines have a little marking on them like the need to line up but there is no marking on the diff side, just on the axle itself. Anyone know if it would even matter?

 

Just so the splines mesh and things go together .

yes sir! as long as it lines up with the inner splines on the diff you should be ok.

 

Okay cool, those little marks had me concerned

 

little marks? do you have a photo? i dont remember lining up any lines installing my napa cv.

 

It's pink on one spline each side

 

shoot man, i just lined mine up to the diff and it seemed to just fit back together fine, its been holding for about a year now. i really dont remember any sort of marking. the splines on the hub assembly should be able to spin freely to line up whatever spline pattern after you slide the cv into the diff itself. sorry i cant be more assistance.

 

That's what I figured too, did the same on mine fuck that pink mark it's probably just for another indicator with the boots

 

The pink marks might have been machining or assembly marks of some sort .

If my axles had them I never noticed

 

There's no way to mess it up. just shove 'em in and tighten up! the marks don't matter.
