Tacoma vs. 4runner for towing

I owned a 2005 Toyota Tacoma for 9 years before I had put too many miles on it and had to sell, which was very difficult to do. So now we are in 2016 and I'm thinking of buying a new Tacoma or possibly a 4runner. I was wondering I they have the same towing ratings? And then any thing better about one over the other that isn't obvious?

 

How many miles were on the 2005?

Btw, I'm pretty sure towing capacity is bigger on the taco.
