X2 for rausch creek. Do you have a time frame when you'll be in the area?

If you are travelling alone, I like the pine Barrens of New Jersey. Wharton State park has a few trails. You can spend a few hours exploring the area. It's a nice spot, and won't take you too far out of the way depending on how you get to NY or go home. I can do most of it in rear wheel drive. They are sand trails, and depending on the wind, there can be some woops. Most of the trails run along the river. There is a map available online for the trails. There are always other cars on the trail. Download the map before you go, because the access points for the trails are free. If you don't have a map, you have to pay $7.00 to get in the park office so you can get a map. Although Batsto historic village is worth the $7.00

The other spot I like is in Ohipyle Pyle PA. This is on the western side of PA, and you may be able to hit them up again, depending on how you go or return hom. There are several roads that are nice, mostly steep gravel roads, with some mud and water crossings. My favorites in preference are Bidwell Road, Rock Spring road, then fire tower road. Bidwell had two water crossings this June when I went. think an xterra group has pics and info about the run on their forum. Rock Spring is nice as well, but not as long as bidwell road. Stop in at the state park office and they have maps with these roads highlighted. These aren't challenging, and you can go RWD for at least 50% or the road. Lytle road to Grover road is also a nice, scenic gravel road, that you can do in a (place front wheel drive compact car here), but it runs along a creek with a small bridge crossing. It's just nice and quiet.

I heard Bald Eagle state park also has some nice trails but I've never been

    http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/

offers maps with info of road types of different forest areas. click on the region you might pass through and select public use maps. these maps are detailed. I've used them to explore different areas. some are just flat gravel roads, and others have been fun. but again, nothing you need a second truck for, since you will be alone.

I have also spent some time in the Jefferson and Washington national Forest, in VA. There are good maps in the offices and I like the area. No Rausch, but they are nice when you are the only truck, and these are all free.
