So after much waiting and some looking think I am going to get the 35mm lens. Is it worth the 20 bucks for a filter? Amazon recommends the 52mm. Is that right? Thanks

I don't run filter's on any of my lenses. If I do it's a polarizer and only when it's needed. The thing with filters is they are usually a cheaper glass than what is in the lens so for best image quality run the lenses optics only.

I do however always use the lens hoods. Look at it this way, if you drop the lens and break the filter glass where is it going to go? Right into the front element and scratch it.

 

I've got quality haze-1a filters on all my lenses. Canon or Hoya filters, fully multicoated. I also always use a lens hood.

 

Also lenses that have a good bit of space between the front element and the filter are more prone to getting reflections between the filter and the lens.

Yah I drove out to the stadium when the game was in the 7th inning and just went to the back parking lot. Setup and took pics, I think I was back there all of 30-40 minutes total.

Stacking requires photoshop, no? I only have LR5. Unless there's a way with LR5..

 

No. You need PS to focus stack. LR has a "stacking" feature but it's used for organizing like photos.

Haven't checked all my photos but I did a quick edit this photos from my hike last night. That's mt bachelor in the photo. I really hope my astrophotography photos come out as awesome as this one.

 

I think I paid $129 for LR6 (CC). I didn't want to pay the subscription as eventually the cost of the sub would be more than the program itself. That said, I'm really wanting to try Adobe Premiere Pro to see how it compares with Final Cut Pro X. I know the Warp Stabilizer in Premiere is better than Final Cut Pro and since I do a lot of time lapse I'm really wanting to try it out. Especially for Hyperlapse which you really need Warp Stabilizer.

Wow those jet photos just seem like they would be too tricky for me.. So clear and close up.

 

Ya for sure but I Think you are forced to use a subscription based package for Lightroom now.

 

You can still buy the program. You just don't have access to the mobile stuff. My trial period has ended but the program still works great.
