    Bought this keyless entry system
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006QH9C5A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I can turn wrenches all day, this is a different animal.
I'm assuming I need the wiring diagram for my truck, can't find it.
Not sure where exactly to install this at either, under steering wheel?
Am I running wires to each door lock?
What's the best way to splice into theses lines and where do I do that.
Going to make a install thread once I get going in the right direction? You think this would have already been done. Every thread is vague.
    Someone please help me out!

Read the instructions thoroughly. Yes you will need a wiring diagram of your truck. There are internet sites that have diagrams.
Install the control box on the driver side in the kick panel.
Again, read the instructions thoroughly and have a idea of what wires go to what. Each keyless entry wire color system is different.

I installed a remote start system on my truck and it was a MAJOR PITA. I wrote down on a piece of paper of which wire on the keyless entry system goes which wire in the truck and where the wire is in the truck before I ever started. Start with the easy wires first like the ones that flash the parking lights when unlocked and locked.

I used the diagram at this link when I wired mine. http://www.commandocaralarms.com/wiring/2001-2003/toyota/tacoma/2038.html I have a 2001 PreRunner as well. If you're just looking to wire up a set of door locks, it should be a really easy install. All of the problems I ran into were for the ignition start wiring. Your best bet for splicing into the harness is inside the kick panel to the left and under the steering wheel.

    This is my wiring instructions.
I assume the 2 bottom brown wires are for the flashers, red and black have to run to the battery.
The other six wires I have no idea....
How do I tie into the wires?
Strip a small portion back and wrap the wire around it and the put electrical tape on it?

    Start with easiest wires first.
Black wire/negative......ground it to the body some where.
Red wire/Positive......run a wire all the way to the battery with inline fuse or find a continues 12v positive to tie in to with the ignition OFF.
Your controller has 2 brown wires for the parking lights. Either you can use both....run each brown wire to both FRONT parking lights( redundancy ) OR use just one and splice in to the POSITIVE wire on one of the parking lights. Look at the wiring diagram for you truck and find the positive wire for the parking lights. Splice one of those brown wires to it.

The other six wires are tricky and where a multimeter will come in handy.
Remove the driver side door panel to get access to the door lock actuator wires. Look on the truck wiring diagram and find the door lock actuator trigger wires. Grab your multimeter, ground the negative probe to a ground on the truck somewhere. With the red positive probe, tap in to one of the wires that triggers the door lock. You may have to go through all of them to single out the wires. Operate the door locks and observe what the voltage does. If the voltage shows a jump in POSITIVE voltage.....you have a positive trigger. If the voltage does nothing....you have a negative trigger.
I suspect you will have a positive trigger. Most automobile manufactures don't want live positive wires running through the door. In case of a accident where you are hit in the door, with a live positive wire would burn the truck to the ground.
The door lock system uses a positive signal to operated the door lock actuator. One pulse of positive current will unlock the doors on one wire ( unlock wire on the truck diagram ) and another pulse of positive current will lock the doors ( lock wire on the truck diagram ). When you push the unlock/lock button on the door.......the button sends positive voltage signal to the lock actuator, the keyless entry box is simulating this. Splice the box controller unlock wire to the unlock truck wire. Splice the control box lock wire to the lock truck wire. You will have to trace the wires from the door to the kick panel to keep from running wires into the door from the keyless entry box.

Take the Yellow wire and the yellow/black wire and splice those into a constant 12v source.
Take the Orange and Orange/black wire and tie them into a knot to signify they will not be used and tape them up.

Take a remote push unlock. The doors should unlock. If they lock......you have the lock and unlock wire backwards.
Check to see if the parking lights are flashing when unlocking and locking.

Note: DO NOT use quick splice type splices. http://www.wiringproducts.com/quick-splices. They short out to easily and you will be taking everything apart to remove them and doing the job right.
Proper way is to cut a small section of insulation from the wire, wrap the wire you are wanting to connect, solder, wrap in self vulcanizing rubber electrical tape.

So I am looking for the gray and purple wires coming from the fuse box based off this list?
    http://www.commandocaralarms.com/wiring/2001-2003/toyota/tacoma/2038.html
That leaves me with 3 wires coming out of the control box.
Seems like these 3 wires go to the lock and unlock wires, why do I need to trace wires to the lock?

Ok let's take a look at the Positive Trigger wiring schematic from top down on the keyless entry box.
    1. Not used.
    2. Lock signal
    3. +12v
    4. Not used.
    5. Unlock signal
    6. +12v

The only wires that you will be splicing are the Lock Signal, Unlock Signal and the 2 Positive 12v wires (look below).
Splice the UNLOCK wire on the keyless entry box to the PURPLE wire.
Splice the LOCK wire on the keyless entry box to the GREY wire.
The 2 +12v wires, After looking at the confusing keyless entry box diagram, You need to check to see what they do. Do they supply a positive 12v or do they need positive 12v. They may supply a 12v signal for something like the horn. Example: horn honks when the doors are unlocked and locked. All technical writers should be shot.

As for the DOOR TRIGGER wires on the truck wiring.
    1. THE DRIVER DOOR TRIGGER IS GREEN(-)
    2. THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR TRIGGER IS GREEN/WHITE(-)
    3. THE REAR DOOR TRIGGER IS YELLOW/GREEN(-) .
I believe these wires are only used when installing an alarm system. They are for lock tampering.

Trace the wires to the lock to verify that you have the correct wires. Disregard if you are confident that you have the correct wires.

Thank you so much, about to get started.
Where should I connect the yellow wire for 12v? Assuming I do the same with the other 12v yellow and black wire? Same spot?

Hook eveything up besides the Yellow and Yellow and black wires. You need to check to see if they supply a positive 12v volts or need 12 volts. I suspect they supply 12v for like a horn honk to signal operation.

If the wires shows a 12v spike when unlocking and locking the doors, you can hook them up to anything that will signal door lock operation. Example head lights, horn, dome light and etc. But check it to see.

So far I have connected the positive and negative wires, the lock and unlock and it does nothing. The box clicks when I hit the remote but nothing happens with the locks.

With a multimeter check the lock and unlock wires on the key entry box to see what the voltage does.

What's the best way to attach the wire to the fuse box? Will hooking one wire to the horn make it go off when the bitton is pressed?

The best way to attach a wire to the fuse box is attach it to a wire going INTO the fuse box.
You will have to find the GREEN/RED wire on the steering column.

So find the horn wire and splice into that? What is the purpose of this and the other one?
    Make the horn go off?

Just checked with a volt meter. Had the negative wire on the negative battery post and the positive shoved into my splice and operated the locks back and forth. Nothing....
Had to have spliced the wrong wires....
Any ideas for me for tomorrow?!?!
Supposed to rain the rest of tonight.
