Cant see how anybody can drive in ECT. mode. other then going up very steep hills for me so far. ..... its horrible. every movement in ECT is jerky and delayed. i would say its almost dangerous. it will rev very high then finally change gear.... then with the same amount of preasure on the gas as i had on the gear before...... now it finally changed it will perform like i just stepped on the gas harder....... like once its changed gears the rpm are already revved too high already.... like if u were driving a manual and didnt let off the gas all the way when putting in the clutch and then releasing it again still pushing the gas a little ... not a good feeling at all ...
-if take foot off gas completly and softly re apply i feel a jerky/delay feeling and a lurch..... everytime!

is this just my truck? im having this looked at very soon at my dealer. wanting some imput from other drivers

You need to visit the dealer, that is not normal for these trucks.

I agree, definitely not normal. I'd rather drive mine with the ECT engaged. I like the shift points better than normal mode.

Yeah, it shifts smooth. No jerking. The truck revs higher before shifting, more of a racier feel, but definitely not jerky. I definitely prefer to live it in power mode over regular mode. The MPG's do seem to suffer some, maybe a 10% decrease.

Mine shifts smooth with ECT on. With average throttle application, it shifts around 2000rpm.

You're probably low on transmission fluid. Get it checked and have the TSB update done.

yeah that sounds like a issue with the tranny... I always have mine in ECT mode... the truck sucks to drive in normal mode.
Get your dealer to look at it.

I tried driving with ECT on also to see if it would solve the transmission problems...

It is pretty jerky, I didn't like it much unless I'm pulling a trailer.

I would say that in ECT the throttle is a little snatchy at lower speeds.

The throttle feels connected unlike the lackluster, slow, no response you get in normal mode.

I would definitely have your truck's transmission checked out. ECT mode will give you a "jerkier" throttle response, but that is do to it sticking in the lower gears longer. It will also hold its gear longer before shifting, but this is to stay in the higher torque and hp delivery range of the engine.

YOU SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING ANY HESITATION in this mode. Definitely have the dealer take a look.

I love driving in ECT Mode. The extra power helps especially going up hill...

I have had the Software TSB applied to my truck. It does help to smooth out the shifting a bit. It gives the feeling of having a little bit more pep off the line. However I have also noticed I am getting the Shift Flare from 2nd to 3rd gear in the morning when I first drive it out of my neighborhood. It is actually more pronounced now than before I had the TSB done. This shift flare is just how you described the feeling of driving a manual and not taking your foot off of the accelerator between gears.

The truck does seem to shift more aggressively in ECT mode. I have used it for towing and it helps keep the truck in the powerband quite a bit better but I don't like having to hit another button everytime I get into my truck in the morning. The truck is not designed to drive in ECT mode 100% of the time, but maybe it should have been.

yea flare is a good name for the symptom.. when i drive it ECT it flares the worst at 2-3..... but so rough at every gear change....2-3 yes is the worst when in ECT.....when i get the feeling i stepped on the gas harder but when when really im pushing it the same.

i havent gotten the transmission tsb yet but i will be i have all the symptoms they describe and others. mine is in the VIN#

Always use ECT in traffic. Seems fine. I'd get it checked. Doesn't seem right.
