Let us know if whatever your guy ordered fixed the problem. In the short future I plan on lifting the truck and basically replacing most of the suspension pieces parts so that may fix my problem on its own but it will definitely be interesting to hear if it worked out for you.

Steve that is good for scratching the itch of consumer curiosity. For me, I personally prefer the dealer spend his time and trouble to troubleshoot and repair the issues. You know?

Got a call from the tech this morning saying the parts he ordered were in. He then said there was actually a TSB regarding this issue. The dealership is 35 miles away so I will take it in Monday morning. I will post on this thread whatever (if anything) I learn and if this does indeed remedy the problem. As I has stated before, this dealership (not where I bought my truck) has been great! You can see in Post #200 what they have done so far for me with NO hassle. True, none of the issues have been major to say the least but irritating until taken care of. I do feel for those that are having major issues such as failing brakes, vibrations, erratic shifting, windshields, among others. Even the base model Tacoma's are not price bargains and I have seen window stickers at dealerships in the $40K+ range. I have been lucky I guess, and am really enjoying my SR5.

If it were a recall it would be massive, not only did they buy trucks back because of this issue, but it would have to cover 2012-2016 and probably be a complete new set that has been drastically changed, becuase off all the dealers who had looked at tacomas with this issue not one can figure it out, so it is not an easy problem to deal with. Also i have seen some tundras affected too. And dealers down here are flooding cooprate with tacomas and tundras, with this issue.

Thanks for the update I look forward to seeing what becomes of this. I go in for my 10K checkup in 800 miles and depending on how this goes I may follow in your footsteps so to speak. I love my SR especially with the cruise control/wiper switch and tint I have added. Its a great truck just shouldn't make noises like this for the price we payed.

Try a new dealer. I don't know how feasible that is in your town but it may be worth the drive. I know where I bought my truck and where I had my 5K service while I was on leave were like night and day.

I would say just call them up first and without complaining too much offer them your business. If they're willing to earn a customer I mean they should treat you right. Then again that's a lot to ask of a dealership

Have had my truck in now 3 different times to get this fixed (4 times is the Lemon Law charm in AZ). Regional Engineer flew out to look at it, they took the springs off, took them apart, added some lubricated pads between the leafs and put them back together, installed back on truck. So far no squeaks but they were full disclosure with me said "they believe" that Toyota knows it is a widespread issue and they are working on a more permanent solution but no timeframe and nothing in writing to prove this or show their progress on it. Just have to take their word for it. In the interim Corporate will not authorize replacement of the leafs. They also told me they wouldn't be surprised that in the next 3 to 6 months they will start squeaking again. Here's the thing I really didn't like from this however...the engineer and service manager did not tell me this in person but the repair order notes said "Springs may need regular maintenance especially if truck is used off road and accumulates sand in suspension components" I asked My Corporate Case Manager what that is supposed to mean and she basically told me if I'm off roading the truck I'll be responsible to do extra maintenance on the springs. I basically told her I thought that was a Major Steaming Pile of Horse Manure because the truck is supposedly designed and marketed for OFF ROAD use aka TRD Off Road. Felt like this extra little verbiage in the notes was a major cop out by them.

As far as your situation goes I'd mostly be concerned with your suspension components that you have "aftermarket" they could pull that as the first excuse as to why your stuff isn't right.

That is good for that dealer but many folks have said once you leave that dealer other dealers will not have to honor that agreement. So just a heads up in case you get pushback....you may be stuck going back to the original dealer.

Problem fixed!!! I had driven 250 miles to N.FL this weekend. The tech called last Thursday and said the part for the squeaking passenger front side issue was in and that there was a TSB for the issue. Over the weekend the squeak (noticeable at very low speeds going over speed bumps, entrances to driveways, etc.) got even worse. My wife, who RARELY rides in the truck, commented on the noise. At highway speeds and w/the radio on you didn't hear the noise. I stopped by the dealer on the way back since it was on my way (it's 30 miles from where I live). The tech was coming out of his bay and saw me drive up and said to go to the waiting room and he would get right on it. After 45 minutes or so he came in and let me know it was fixed. He showed me a picture of the defective bushing and explained why it was making that squeaking sound. The dealership has speed bumps going back to the service area and, as I left, "no noise!" I also drove through a shopping mall parking lot at a low speed hitting every bump I could and "no noise!" As stated in previous posts, this is my 3d visit to this dealership's service dept. All were completed in quick time and to my complete satisfaction:

    1. Replaced rear passenger's door window seal/checked and added transmission fluid and ECU reset (Tacoma World)-March 16.
    2. ECU calibration/suspension plugs (TSB's) (Tacoma World)-July 16
    3. Squeaking bushing passenger side front (TSB-reported to me by the tech)-August 16.

Unlike some others on TW, I absolutely love my truck. It gets great mileage and meets my needs much better than my 12' Tundra TRD, Really don't mind the trips to the dealership as their town has a Panara Bread (which I love) and a great gun shop. I know the first year of the 3gen has issues but thanks to TW and a GREAT tech, maybe most of them (in my case) have been rectified.

[Quote: If possible can you give us the TSB #? Quote]

Damn! Sorry, I didn't ask for the number. The service writer said since it was warranty work that the paperwork would not close out until the end of the day and that they would mail me the service write-up. That's what they did in the past on the other issues in #1 and #2. The paperwork on the ECU calibration simply said: Vehicle has a software glitch in ECM. Reflashed ECM and TCM Lag in shift from reverse to drive...TSB for condition. However, when I took it in he noted the TSB number for the ECU Calibration exactly like was reported in TW.

ooooo, thanks for that info. I have a slight squeaking intermittently on the passenger side developing, sounds like from the front, so I will definitely get this looked at for my 5k service. If you can get that TSB # or even a copy of it, that would be great to have in hand, but thanks for the info!!!
