The Carryon 5x8MG Tractor Supply Special model went on sale this weekend for 599. We scooped up the last one at our local store. Carryon sells this model to Tractor Supply because it has 13 inch wheels. Lowe's has the exact model on sale for 649 but it is the regular 5X8MG with 12 inch wheels.

Had to get a 5.25 inch drop draw bar and a 1.875 inch ball for it. Went with Reese. Got a match keyed Coupler Lock, Coupler Ball Lock, and Draw Bar Pin Lock at Walmart for 30 bucks. You can't beat that when the Coupler Ball Lock is 25!

Stopped by Home Depot on the way home and scored some 3/4 sanded pine ply wood for 30 a sheet. Usually it's 50 a sheet. The rattle of the draw bar quited down just towing the wood home. Got 1/4x20 hardware with carriage, fender washer, lock washer, and nut.

This is the trailer with the 2 full sheets in it.

One full sheet for the left side,

A 1x8 foot piece for the right side, seen on the left of this picture,

Holes were drilled through the plywood and through the 2x2 angle iron.

And a whole lot of drilling,

My wife sealed the plywood with Behr wood sealing stain tinted some brown shade. Lots of hardware,

And complete for now. Needs new wiring and lights. They are crap and the side indicator wires are already falling apart where they crimped them together. I already knew this would happen. I'll get some nice LED sets.

Its parking space beside the house. We built this gravel space for our old pop-up trailer before we got our current toy hauler. We pulled the pavers some years ago and used them in the back yard.

The tongue weight without the woof was maybe 30 pounds tops. It's about 50 pounds with the plywood. It pushes really easy by hand. We don't have a front wheel for it yet but we plan to get one if we need to push it around while it's loaded.

Will continue with more build updates.

towing my wife's quad and my bike. I can't get them both in the bed without damaging the bed sides. This is only 6 inches wider than the bed but it doesn't have bed sides that are blocking the bike from pushing in.

I put reflective tape on the trailer sides and rear gate. I'll get more on the sides later.

Used the trailer to move a sofa and a love seat 120 miles. The sofa and a table was on the trailer. I turned it around in an apartment complex by hand and the tongue was 50 pounds or maybe less.

How do you think a Harbor Freight folding trailer would compare to this? I dont have room to store a full 5x8 or any trailer outside of my house. Therefore, Id need to buy a folding version.

my step dad has the folding 4x8 and it's a piece of shit. The paint is gone and the screws that come with it are garbage. This entire trailer is welded except for the tongue which is replacable if you want or need. There is a large difference in the two trailers You can also tip this over to store it on its side. It's 400 pounds. One of the biggest differences I read about is the 10 inch vs the 13 inch tires. Huge difference between rolling, rolling over, and cruising with larger tires.

I looked into the HF foldable and fixed trailer. Most serious trailerers weld those things together after fitting them square with the bolts. And they flip the axle and put bigger tires on it. They also have no flooring. At least this had the mesh, which is a good base under the wood I put down.

But some people build those into nice trailers

Did some work on the trailer today. Installed the Haul Master zerk bearing caps. Installed the Haul Master two-wheel nose jack. And added the license plate to the mesh of the gate with some P-clamps and nylock nuts. That license plate isn't going anywhere...

I guess I didn't take a picture with the jack down... It's level near the bottom of the range

We used the trailer for the first time this season. Loaded the bike and quad at the front of the trailer and it added a lot of tongue weight. I hope to install some wheel chocks next time to center the load over the trailer axle. Towed about 200 miles over some big passes. It did great
