^^ That's great to hear. Is your auto trans a 6 speed? If so, that's good to know. Are there any mountains in your area that have freeways and over-passes?

In my area, the 4.88's was causing my 4spd auto to down shift/ up shift constantly on 33's. Been there, done that, not to mention the lack of power. One of the reasons why I smoked a trans.

    Good luck OP.

Mine is a 4-speed auto, but it may have different ratios than your year model...I don't know. 4.88s were as deep as I could go with the front clamshell. My area is as flat as flat gets, but it did great coming home from ECGS (Raleigh, NC) and it was kinda hilly in places. I'm very happy with my choice.

I figured 4.88 would be ideal because it's a 6 speed auto. I don't understand how it would be over geared.

Also, are you sure? I saw that Yukon and G2 gear make ring and pinion sets for the 8inch 4 banger rear. They go 4.10 - 5.29 ratios

We have 8 inch rears correct? Just want to verify. I know the TRD OR 2016 trims have a bigger 8.75 axle.

If you have a 6spd auto, that should help and perhaps 4.88's would do great. As mine is a 4spd auto, turning 33's w/ 5.29's, my 0-60mph is around 20 seconds, a total slug.

As for the rear, 1st gen TRD's had the 8" rear while non-TRD's had 8.4's. which I have. For the newer models I cannot say what they have for 3rd's. I would think that you can get 5.29's if you wanted but like you said, you have the 6spd trans. That could be a better combo with the 2 extra gears. I have not heard of the 8.75" axle.

    Good luck.

It's not the rear it's the front that's the issue unless they've started making 5.29s in the last year, the non TRD models retain the same axle from the previous generation is my understanding. Like I said automatic is a different world. Wish I could help more
