Just thought I would see if anyone on here has gotten a chance to try this out or if anyone had experience with a similar product. K&N is claiming a 17HP gain, which is pretty impressive. Let me know what you think! Thank you!

Generally cold air intakes create more horsepower at higher rpm's and drop at driving rpm range . This is always been my experience. Unless you can put an Exhaust and tune with it.
I've often wondered if they work better and higher altitude because there is less oxygen but no way of really telling, I guess.
But I would totally love some more ponies on my Tacoma.

I have one on my 2011. nothing tested however I tend to say its all good sound no power gains. your sucking in hoot engine air the entire time. I do love the sound of it though and that fact the replacement on the filter is like 100,000 miles

Not sure how they can make a claim like that...am I understanding it right...an across the board 17 hp gain....I am thinking save your money...their guarantee is more HP doesnt but specify how much is guaranteed...

when I think of cold air intakes.. I think of those infomercials.

Worthless unless you have a tune or forced induction.

Oh and gotta love dirt getting into your engine. You won't see evidence in the throttle body or intake tube, but do an oil analysis and see the silica Levels

its already been proven by innumerable tests you can find all over the internet that K&N air filters are bad at filtering dust, AND don't do a damn thing to add power. they'll make your intake noisier, oh joy.

in nearly every test, the best air filter was the stock factory one. one test, I think it was a Mazda Miata, they took a really dirty heavily used filter, covered half of it with saran wrap, reinstalled it, and dyno tested it vs no air filter at all, and could not measure ANY difference. please explain how a magic oily-filter is going to add horses? yeah right.

That's very helpful! Haha I haven't really done much research into CAIs, but it makes sense that the engineers at Toyota probably know what they are doing! Thank you for the input!

if making the airbox and intake path bigger added horsepower for free, you don't think every car maker would have done it ages ago?

If you decide you want an intake I would go with AFE. Better filtration than K&N

If it's power you're after, the energy given off from setting your money on fire will be more than that given by this junk.
