ECGS opinions and options

I have been waiting and researching the options of adding front and rear lockers and also regearing my 2008 TRD sport dclb for about 8 months now, and I was just wanting to see if anybody had any input they would like to share before I break down and order everything. I plan on ordering the assembled 3rd and clamshell with 4.88 (since I am auto on 35s). Plan on ordering the arb air lockers since I already have the compressor and everything ready to install.

• Mainly wanting to see if people have ordered the clamshell with new bearings vs the good used bearing option.
• Adding the solid spacers front and rear vs not adding the spacers.
• Adding the cv bushing when ordering the clamshell with the air locker vs just adding the locker.
• Buying the gear oil from Ecgs vs buying from somewhere else.

I know this is all questions I can ask chase but just wanted to see what other members suggested or would change if they had it to do over again and possibly help out others that plan on doing the same.

Hope this is posted in the correct forum and isn't a duplicate thread. I searched it and didn't find anything similar.

 

I ordered from them 2 years ago for my last truck. Amazing people to work with. I added the Solid spacers in mine, it was worth it for me. I didnt get the gear oil from them just because you will need to change it out after your break-in period. I didnt do the locker in mine just because of funds and needing it quick (mine was wining bad and was about to break apart in the rear.) But i highly recommend them. And their customer service is really great

 

I can't speak from experience yet since I wont' be able to install until next week, but I went with 4.56 gears, open front w/ solid spacer & CV Bushing, ARB rear w/solid spacer. From what I've read the solid spacers are much stronger and less likely to damage, no brainer at $45 per diff. Gear oil through ECGS didn't make sense to me, it's only an alright price and you only get 3 quarts, enough for the break in period but not enough for the first change. I ended up ordering their recommended

Thanks for the replies, so nobody has added the new bearings for the front? It's another $200 for an already pretty big bill.
