Looks like it... I understand they are for ice and snow but why put them in now? Will they even last until the snowy months?

    Affirmative.

Discount Tire told me that they, and most other shops, won't put them in unless they're brand new tires. Since the truck isn't my daily, I had them go ahead.

One of my good friends runs the ST Maxx on his heavy-ass F-250 and commutes in to work daily from the mountains. He's had his since they were brand new, and his studs are still going strong after 20k miles.

Comes down to individual choice, I suppose.

Gotcha. I just figured that the studs would be flat even after just a few thousand on dry pavement

I started at 38psi and with a load range E tire it's way too much pressure. I dropped to 32psi and they feel tons better. I hear a chirp every once in a while on corners but nothing to complain about.

Holy shit. How are you in the firewall that bad with 315's?

Haha! Well... I probably could have gotten by with less, but apparently this is on par with what Tim and Monte ended up cutting.

I took so much because I borrowed some bumps from Tim that were cut to about half their normal height. That bought me plenty of margin with brand new tires, since I really don't want to EVER have to do this again.

With the full stock bumps in, I have a good inch of clearance everywhere at full stuff and full lock. With the cut bumps I still have at least a quarter inch.

What bumps? The wheelers replacements? It just took cutting back the pinch weld and some hammer beating plus a CMC to fit my 315's. Without seeing it I can only assume but it sounds like your alignment is set up with your ture back in the firewall instead of away.

Stock bumps. The ones I borrowed from @TimF for the tubbing were stock that were cut to about half of their height.

    I'm a 1st Gen, FWIW.

@jubei777 were you in the body mount at all? I had to cut mine back quite a bit too.

Yep. Driver and passenger side, and both the frame and body sides of the mounts. Not a whole lot, but about as much as what's in your picture.

    1st Gen problems.

    ST-Maxx review:

The ride is a little harsher/stiffer than my previous Michelins, but those were street tires. I kept the 255-85/R16 ST-Maxx's at 35 PSI during the long highway trip to and from the Toyota Takeover (183 highway miles) for slightly better fuel mileage (not much better.)

The truck came off of overdrive into 4th gear frequently on long uphills on the highway. I decided to just lock out OD completely when I came across these uphill sections. I don't think its a function of weight or load range E. Likely because they are taller tires. This is not enough of an issue to me to make me want to re-gear, because I felt that the truck had plenty of power to navigate through some of most crazy ass off-road terrain that I've ever encountered. Steep, high angle, off-camber, rocks, boulders, ditches, deep water, mud. You name it, the tires did fantastic. The tread traction was very good on slippery, rain covered rocks/boulders. Handled and cleared mud extremely well.

For day-to-day driving, 30-32 PSI seems to be a much more comfortable ride.

On the extreme off road trails of Rausch Creek Off Road Park, I initially started at 18 PSI, then looked at all the crazy shit we were going to do. So I dropped down to 15 PSI when I saw @cynicalrider attempting to crawl up a rocky cliff. The aired down tires were INCREDIBLE at molding around rocks, stumps and holes. The sidewalls were nice and flexible but appeared to support the tire carcass well. Traction was FANTASTIC. The sidewalls did encounter some major battles with rocks and tree stumps. But the sidewalls with the aggressive side tread pattern didn't bat an eyelash.

I carried two extra spares, thinking I might blow a sidewall or blow a bead off. None of that happened.

I'd buy them again, if I ever get to wear it down. That's gonna be a long while, because it's on a six tire rotation and I still have a good set of Michelins that I can and will switch into the rotation for DD use.

Lloyd you can also do the chalk test on your tires to find the PERFECT PSI to run them at. Draw a line roll about 10 feet get out and see how the lines wore off... @chris4x4 has a good write up about it I think in his signature

One was full replacement with a certificate...one was my spare which is/was still new....the front two they prorated for $111 each. I had to buy two certificates in the transaction. So I'm running new tread in 4 corners and kept my best old tire with 10/32 for a spare all with certs. I'll probably cough up money for a new spare soon so I can do that again if it happens.

nice. I used one Cert for my previous tires (ATII's).. and got them again with the Maxx's.. hoping I can work a deal with them for new tires down the road, same as you.
