Nice but you will not be needing the K40 cable if your using the Little Wil antenna. That antenna already has the cable attached to it.

 

I realize this, but I couldn't figure out how long the cable that they provide is? Eventually I want to mount whip on a rear bumper w/swing out tire carrier, so I figured I'd be buying a longer one eventually. But your right, for now I'll just use the Lil Wil and provided cable and call it good. Thanks Rob!

 

I would NOT go with the Magnet mount antenna. One in our group kept having to deal with the antenna being brushed off by low hanging branches at the Toyota Takeover this past weekend.

If you're pressed for time, why not take the free bedrail mount offered on this thread, mount a 10 dollar Francis 4 foot antenna (which I have and like a lot) and route your 18' cable temporarily along the bed and through an open window. This is my setup. This thread has some great ideas.

When you have time, you can route your cable nicely along the frame rails into your cab.

You'd also skip the additional cost/step of the magnetic antenna.

 

Maybe first gens have more steel or he had a bad magnet. I have run mine all over and it's only come off a couple times.

I wish I could grab that free mount ( what a generous guy, why I love this place), but my 2002 does not have bedside mounts to hook into Great idea with running cable along frame rails and through a wire port into the cab, thats exactly how I'll do it. I guess I'm feeling that as long as I invest in a good CB to start with, I can play with coax's/ antenna's/mounts and find what works best over time

What do you guys run for cb radios? What are the plusses and minuses? Would you buy it again?

 

When I had my cobra 75wxst installed I loved it! Great little low profile unit. If you take a little time to install it, no one would even know it's there unless you leave it plugged in. Very happy with it!

 

Any you guys talk to truckers on the highway ever, running the CB? Just for shits, or traffic updates or something

 

Yeah sometimes when there is traffic but usually around here it is pretty quite. In PA however it is great entertainment to just turn on the CB and listen to them. They talk as much as 14yo schoolgirls

What do you guys think of the Cobra 75 compared to the Uniden 510, 520 or the 880? The 510 and 520 are the same except for an adjustable rf and a pa switch on the 520. I don't need the pa but the noise reduction may be nice

 

I went with the Cobra 75 because of its ability to be seamless, which is something I can appreciate. Cluttered cabs are no fun, IMHO. The noise reduction might be a good thing in the Uniden's, but I've heard the 75's are pretty good with that as well. I was thinking bout those Uniden's, and liked them for the price, but they just require too much console positioning for my tastes. Then my girlfriend would get in the truck and be like "WTF did you buy now?".......ohh wait, thats all the time

Plus I think that 880 is a bunch of flashy hopla...it does everything the others do, but in digital display..meh
