From all the talk on here about checking rear ujoint bolts and getting a annoying vibration from the steering wheel at different speeds and when stopping. I decided to check the bolts and they were tight but what I found was this.

I can move the drive shaft all arround. This might be all part of the vibration issues people are having. Get under your 2016 Tacoma and see if you can move your driveshaft arround even if it isn't leaking.

Should I turn the engine off before I inspect the driveshaft? Also, should I disconnect the negative cable to the battery? Any recs on light sources while down there? Matches or blue torch IYO? TIA.

Too bad they removed the dip stick for checking the oil level on the bearings for the 2016.

First of all that looks like oil. There isn't oil in the carrier bearing. Your engine is likely leaking or the tranny

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Clean it off with some brake cleaner and see what it looks like in a week. Report back. x2 on the theory it's coming from somewhere else.

You say to "pull" the brake but I thought you push it down with your foot? So my wife needs to pull up on the brake while I am below the vehicle?

It's definitely coming from that bearing the rubber could be oil fill or even the bearing. Possible new design. Anyways after a drive it was pretty warm and it wasnt a long distance or highway speeds. Only thing at this point would be to take it to dealer. They need to see it leaking so I shouldn't clean it especially if all the oil or whatever that is drained out nothing else is wet under the car

I just wanted to let people know this may be a problem since it supports the drive shaft that spins very fast and if there's play in the driveshaft there will be vibrations.

My diff bearing carrier at 1,900 miles. Took to dealer and the differential bearing carrier was replaced and it has not leaked since.

Why would this thread get negative responses? He brings pics. Do we now suspect people of squirting fluids to "invent" problems?

    Mine is the TRD off-road 4X4 .

Iceworks24 did it make any difference with the vibrations the truck makes after the carrier bearing was replaced? After the 1,000 mile mark I noticed more vibrations coming From my truck.
