Just took a trip to Yosemite for a couples days and washed the truck up not too long ago. Noticed a lot of sap spots that were on pretty good. I'm posting this asking for any personal recommendations. I know there are plenty of outdoor guys who get out often. Will search the detailing section tomorrow but any help narrowing down any well known products first hand would be a great starting place. Thank you for any help guys.

I would recommend picking up a spray bottle of "bug and tar remover." I think I used a turtlewax brand last time I had sap on the truck. Follow directions on the bottle. I washed the spots where I removed sap afterwards, and applied a quick coat of wax. Good to go.

WD 40 if that is the quickest solution for you. One of the better things it's good for.

Do it before the sap dries. Once you let it bake on, its much harder to deal with.

I agree with hitting it with a bug and tar remover and let it sit for a while. Maybe like 10-15 minutes then see what comes off. Be very careful obviously and try to remove as much of you can without being aggressive. If you can get most of it off you probably can get some residual off with a clay bar.

WD 40 FTW. Works without effort as well.

Such a late reply but thanks guys for the info. I grabbed some WD40 and it did the trick! Never would have thought!

If you're gifted with OCD like me, you'll wash/wax the truck after spraying a solvent on the clear coat. Heh heh heh

When I was busting up trees for firewood as part of a summer job I had I used to wash off the stickiness on my hands with a couple drops of fuel from the chainsaw, worked like a charm. Not healthy I imagine, heh.

I would chalk this post up as another great thing WD-40 can be used for.

    ^^ THIS ^^

I park under a Maple tree and almost never have issues with sap. A few small branches must have broken over the winter and on one late winter/early spring my entire hood & windshield were covered with drops of sticky sap. This product cleaned it up nicely.

I detail luxury cars in FL and we use lacquer thinner to remove it from glass and paint. It's safe to use as long as you don't let it sit in the area for an extended period of time. It will come off in two seconds. If it's on plastic you'll have to use lift off. It's a product that Home Depot sells. I use it to remove overspray paint and sap all the time.
