Did you get that random radio restart sorted out? I noticed that when I plugged my phone into the USB, the head unit would randomly restart. Is this what you were experiencing?

No the radio still has issues . I'm still freaking out that the stupid thing runs so good . I'll get them to fix that later . 289 miles since the T-SB and I'm all grins . It's seems like the harder I drive it the better it gets.

I hate to go against the grain but my truck is worse after the TSB I had back on Monday.

Shifts down to 4th in cruise on the interstate after I had finally gotten over that with the original adaptive learning. I have to turn off cruise and feather the throttle.

No shift delay in the morning but still I get the flare between 3rd-4th.

Also gas mileage seems to have went down 2-3 mpg.

Is this legit? Is Toyota now loading all new Tacomas with this programming? Mine is a June truck, but curious.

That would be standard operating procedure. Normally they'll implement the change at the factory while issuing the TSB. That way they stop the pain going forward and the TSB applies to the vehicles out in circulation. On many TSB's in the industry, you'll see VIN break points so # to # are applicable to the TSB. In this case that didn't occur, but it sometimes has to do with a batch of parts from a supplier to an assembly issue to calibration changes.

Dropped mine off early this morning got the whole "we need to duplicate the problem" speech from the service lady. I spoke with a actual Toyota technician guy the day before who helped me set up the appointment for the TSB. He seemed to know a little about the TSB and shifting issues, he spoke about a guy taking is Tacoma up north having issues with shifting big time. Seemed to be aware of the low AT fluid and TSB update.

Fingers crossed* they do the update today and don't call me back with "we couldn't duplicate the problem" BS...

Ok, I was to get my TSB done on Tuesday, by I called my dealer about today and was told to bring it in. It's complete, so let's see how much of a change.

after a couple thousand miles with the new TSB, a few of the issues that were fixed, are now creeping back (smitty99 was correct about the placebo effect). Also, the buzzy/vibration in the steering wheel around 2000 rpm is starting to be felt with 10,100 miles on the odometer. This truck just doesn't have enough TORQUE to satisfy me...especially with my new bigger/heavier trailer. So, I traded this truck off for a new Silverado 5.3L w/ 383 lbs of torque. I will miss the tech stuff of the Taco, room behind the seat, and it's awesome JBL...But, now I can use cruise control with hills and pull my trailer and this new truck doesn't even downshift what so ever. Goodbye Tacomaworld. It's been fun and educational while it lasted. I hope ya'll enjoy your trucks and hope some of you with issues gets them resolved.

Drove about 15-20 country miles yesterday keeping it between 40 and 50 mph. Averaged 25 MPG!!

I get about 19 with normal freeway driving.

Were any of the issues that came back, specifically addressed in the TSB?

Just came back after the update this morning.

    I actually received two TSBs:
    TSB - 0077 - 16
    TSB - 0079 - 15 <--- is this a 4 cylinder update?

I'm not sure what the 0079 is? They stated on my paperwork they did both. Truck drives drastically different. It now drives similar to when I would stick the auto trans in 4th gear and drive around town, but now with it in OD. It definitely feels like it has more grunt, but now it feels like I lost my OD. I'll have to clock some more interstate miles to see what this update really did for me in the long run.

But as others have stated the truck drives like ECT is on now 24/7.

How long did it take them to do the TSB? Did they give a hard time? I am not sure if I should go there or El Cajun Toyota.

I had the TSB performed at Toyota of Cool Springs here in middle TN and then immediately drove it for about 6 hours on the interstate and can definitely feel an improvement. Is it perfect? No but no automatic in my opinion is. I think the biggest improvement I've seen so far is putting around back roads. It's hard to explain...before the update it was as if the truck had good days and bad days. Good days the tranny seemed more confident. Bad days...it was rather aggravating. Last few days it has felt better than it did when it was having a good day. I suppose time will tell but so far, I'm pretty happy with it.

As for the dealership...top notch. They didn't even bother trying to replicate it. In fact, one of the service advisers told the adviser I was working with that the update would solve it and to just go ahead and have it applied. I also overheard one of the tech's asking the tech that was working on my truck if it was so-n-so's truck he was working on. My tech said "no but it's in for the same issue". Other tech asked "oh, so the customer is complaining the truck is shifting more than a 1980's chevy?" Thought that was pretty funny.

I had no problems getting El Cajon taking care of mine. Note that I was in for my 5K service and had already reported trans issues. They were the ones who mentioned the TSB to me before I could say anything. Good luck.

Pull the positive terminal for 30 minutes, then drive it hard for a tank. I still have the flare, but my tank average went up to 412 miles and it drives a little better after TSB and doing this. Worth a try.

After the tsb update, is the tank mpg average suppose to reset?
Mine didn't, wondering if they actually did it

My tank average stayed the same as well. Either it is supposed to do that, or they didn't perform the TSB either lol

Thanks for the suggestion but I believe they cleared the memory of my accumulated driving habits in the adaptive learning bank.

That's why I'm getting the old habits of downshifting to 4th on the interstate I guess.

I had finally got it to stop after 5,000 miles and BAM!, it's back after the update.....Very unsettling to me.

    "Perform reflash for auto trans"
