Well finished off my Jameson Caskmate bottle this afternoon after all that whisky talk (only two shots left and gave one to my coworker). Picked up this one to try. I'm not rolling deep in the pockets like you guys so a $30 bottle is all I can afford. image.jpg

@SCRunner12 Dude! Black barrel is my second favorite Jameson. Even my mother in law, who hates whiskey, will sip on it because of how smooth is. In 9 months I get to see what my black barrel turns in to! Put a 12 year Jameson in an aging barrel and the barrel soaked up the whole bottle in year! So black barrel aged with 12 year could turn out pretty good!

That's the thing with barrels. As the wood dries, it gets moisture from the liquid, and then evaporates out. It's what's referred to as the angels share.

With a brand new barrel you fill it with water and let it soak for a few days to saturate the wood and check for leaks. Then keeping it in a cool place helps with the aging losses.

Yeah I put in hot water and let it sit for a week before I put the 12 year in and then it sat in the cupboard above our fridge with some dessicant packs around it, I guess I should have aged some bourbon in it first since it was a fresh barrel

Except I've been up since noon yesterday...my relief called out sick at about 3AM, the guy thats required to show up in that situation apparently has a more important appointment to take his wife to, and everyone else that could come in on overtime aren't answering their phones. Supervisor said he got ahold of the mandatory guy and said he needs to come in, but get here as soon as he can. Mandatory guy told me theres no way he can get here by 9. I can only work til 9 because thats 8 hours before I have to be back on shift at 5.

I'm not opposed to the OT, I'm just trying to figure out how I get told I'm REQUIRED to be here when I get called out and its a ding in my record if I don't show up, but dude can just "show up as soon as hes done with whatever" and force me to violate the 8 hours off before a shift rule, and its cool.

Nah its just BS. Same shit as when they denied my vacation because someone else was taking vacation right after mine and they didnt allow back to back vacations, even though we had 2 extra bodies available AND They were already allowing 3 different people back to back to back vacations like 2 weeks after mine. Ugh.

Letting a coworker use my company truck, so I'm driving a PriusC from our fleet today. Suprisingly, there's a lot of room. Especially in my pants where my testicles used to be.
