Hey everybody, hope everybody is having a good day! Thanks TacomaMike and Blue for the info, I have lifted every truck I've own but just could not figure out why the younger guys were getting after market springs that were lower rated then factory when using adjustable shocks. Did not think about length the coils makes sense now. I would read the threads but they would go on rants before answering my question. Well I guess I had better get on the phone an order some. Talk to everyone later.

    Hey team 50.

I need a recommendation for a mechanics creeper. I'm tired of sliding around underneath my truck. It' time I look like a real mechanic... instead of pretending to be one :)

Needs to be good quality and decent wheels that can get around some rough asphalt on my driveway.

And not too spendy of course.

No matter which one you get it will never roll on asphalt well. Rocks and cracks are not a friend.
I had one for 20 years. It was a piece of 3/4 ply with wheels I bought off a guy for 5 bucks.
I would move engines and transmissions around with it when I did all that every day.
The reason I got rid of it was because the new shop had to be everything red. I had black tool cart and wood creaper. Was told they had to go. I said ok. Drove my truck in and threw them in the back and off I went. Next week I had an engine to do and I said I couldn't because I didn't have the equipment I needed. They asked what I needed. I told them I had what I needed at home. They said ok. So I brought them back in.
    Hehehe I kill myself.....
Then the poor thing died of a hit and run.
Seriously though. Your best bet is to look at a creaper with narrow metal angled wheels. I do not know if they make them any more. If you find the wheels at a hardware store etc, just buy a piece of ply and build one. I find the very low ones terrible for outside work. You always get caught on a socket or wrench getting stuck under it. Mine was higher and rolled over it.
I have one for my garage. Cost me like 5 bucks on sale.does the job but those extra low ones really can hurt your fingers if you grab the side to move it while you are on it. Asphault cuts and scraped pretty good. Plus the lower it is the harder it is to get up.

Guys at work all bought theirs from harbor freight - so I tried one too. Red plastic - good sized wheels - $19.00 - cheap. Works pretty good and rugged so far.

hope you are all well. susan shamed me into being involved with my mother again so i got up at 3 yesterday and went to pick her up and take her to the hospital. i got her there by 6:30 for a blood clot filter installation at 8. that wasn't done until around 10:30 then we waited on surgery. she had to have a total hip replacement in which the doc told us should go well my brother and i told him we had no doubts about the surgery it was the recovery we doubted. it was 9:30 before i got home last night i stayed long enough to insure she was out of surgery successfully. this morning my wife and daughter wanted to go see her (which i had no desire) so i loaded them up and away we went. when we got there i was pleasently suprised to see her up sitting in a chair. the happiness ended there. as i moved her lunch tray i realized she hadn't eaten and when i asked about therapy she said she hurt too bad and had refused. so we're back to last fall and her recovery from back surgery where she wouldn't eat or participate in therapy which resulted in a mass of clotting that evenually stopped her heart. they obviously were able to save her and it turned into a horrific ordeal that lasted months. i had dreams that perhaps she had learned her lesson and this time would be better but no joy with that. last winter this kind of stuff was the cause of me finally telling her i wanted nomore to do with it when she threw all the home care arrangements id made for he in my face and said she didn't want it, now she had to have home care because she wouldn't participate with rehab and was kicked out. i swallowed my pride and tried to do the right thing again and yet again she refuses to do her part. you just can't help some one who won't help themselves.
