Strange noise.

So i was about to take my wife to the store for some carne asada so we could make tacos and as I was backing out of my driveway she tells me she forgot the debit card we pull back in and she hops out, leaves the door opens and runs in the house. As i was waiting I could hear a strange fast clicking noise coming from under the truck. I put the truck in park and the noise went away, when it's in reverse I can hear the noise, when it's in drive i can hear it. Neutral I can hear it. But not in park, any ideas?

Could be related. Vehicle knows doors are open when out of park. Light is flashing on dash, right? No warning chime because you're not moving.

Close the door and see if it goes away.

See if makes the same noise when you go out for ranch dressing. Could be the carne asada causing it.

But seriously, it's likely just the injectors. They make a different clicking noise when they go into cleaning mode, seriously.

How long does this cleaning mode take? I heard the noise when we left and got home, 40 minutes time driving total.

 

Cleaning mode only happens at hot idle, so you weren't hot yet, and only happens for max of 10-15 minutes.

Only abnormal sound I have from the engine bay is that damn high pitched chirping which is apparently the high pressure fuel pump and also apparently normal for new vehicles that have to use gas with ethanol in it.
