Removing oil pan

    I've done some searching but haven't found much...I have some rust on my oil pan and want to replace it. What is the best way to remove the pan? It is an 08

    I don't think there is much too it, maybe someone else can chime in. Take the bolts out, be cautious of the pickup as you're removing that pan, and away you go. Not sure if it uses a seal or just silicone, that you will see when you take it apart. Just make sure you use a small ratchet because the bolts are small and if rusty they will break easily. If any of them jam on removal, tighten it back in, then try to loosen, if it jams again, tighten then loosen etc etc. It's a long process but it will come out eventually. On reinstallation, if you're not comfortable, torque the bolts in because if you tighten them too much you'll squeeze the seal/silicone out of the mating surfaces and it might leak.

    Thanks for the input..I decided to just pull the engine. I have quite a bit of rust and want to POR 15 the frame beneath the engine...stay tuned!

    2005 Tan Tacoma Base 5 LUG: Beaten , abused and still running strong.
    Fat Bobs 2.75 lift and level with short AAL, 16x8 Level 8 Guardian Wheels, 245/75R16 Toyo Open Country ATII, custom trans shift kit(home made), Trans temp. and Vac gauge, URD fuel pump upgrade(going back to stock soon).
    The little steel part is just an inspection cover for the bottom of the engine. Just be sure to use some quality RTV and wait 24 hours before use to ensure a good seal. Toyota has their own and I believe is known as FPIK.
