Parents upgraded to the newest Phantom so I'm getting their Phantom II Vision+. I may need to get a different cell phone though, not sure if its compatible with my current device.

Dayumm Delmarva! That's pretty sweet! I'd be all over that if I wasn't a complete novice, and tied to my area for so many different reasons!
Care to elaborate what you're working on?

    C'est la vie :)

Can't say too much... with hiring 8 additional pilots, this will double the team on that program. It's a very nationally known and recognized Fortune 100 company that we've been working with for about 1.5 years now. Novices are welcome to apply but need the ability to travel all over the US.

I started this hobby about a year and a half ago and went FPV about 8 months ago. It's been a blast but I haven't been flying much lately due to all the damn rain and winds we have gotten here in Texas. Labor day today though, need to take out the ZMR 250 and haul ass.

@Btnewman Pay is sub-50k but with full per diem when working (about an extra 1200 a month). Full benefits + about 9 weeks of PTO a year (30 days on, 10 days off schedule). Plus you get to drive one of the company tundras around :)

In the market for a drone to add to my video editing. I know you all know drones inside and out so I figured what better place to ask. I'm looking for something with a decent price (of course) but don't care to pay for something that is going to give me that professionalism in the work. Nothing without a gimbal obviously and preferably 4K quality. Is the Phantom 3/4 my best option? I know GoPro is releasing the Karma here in the next week and I'm anxious to see what its all about for the price. Thoughts?

All you drone guys and nothing? I really like the removable gimbal so you can have an extra stable GoPro, but I hate that the controller range is only .6 miles from from the drone. The new Mavic is 4 miles.

GoPros are notorious for a fisheye horizon so unless you use software to correct, it'll look like garbage.

I always recommend the Inspire 1... reliable and easy to fly with great video... the new version (inspire 2) should be out within the next 6 months so look for continually falling prices of the Inspire 1.

I can correct the fish eye look. Not really looking to spend that much money on the Inspire (although I'd love to have the inspire instead). I just think the extra removable camera/gimbal is handy. Just not sure about the fly distance only being .6 miles.

Unless it's stupid cheap, I bet the gopro drone is dead before it even gets started.

See, you didn't need advice from here... you already know what you want ;)

GP Karma was a cool new quad until the mavic came out. Karma uses a modified PX4 stack running ardupilot code so take that for what it's worth (I think it's work just about nothing... ardupilot is notorious for bugs that never get fixed while developers keep adding more and more features whilst conveniently not fixing past problems). Mavic runs DJI's proprietary autopilot - will initially have some issues (as do all DJI products at first) but will be fixed relatively quickly as long as DJI acknowledges the problem.
