You're going to find that it's not the case with the Tacoma.

I could live with that. It bothers me to think about paying a dealership to give me keys and fill out a few pieces of paper. When are they going to have an order from factory to your door option?! Haha.

Looks like T,T&L in my area is going to be around $2700. But I've had dealers pay for this before, hence the no more than invoice price. But that's realistically only a few dollars more a month.

Invoice, minus rebates, plut TT&L is about the best you are going to do. And you will have to find the right dealership to get that.

The reason you were able to do that with the Fords is because there are tons of rebates on them and tons of factor to dealer incentives. Trying to figure out what a good deal is on a Ford is a nightmare.

Anytime are paying invoice, minus rebates, on a Toyota you are doing fine. Just don't buy anything in finance. Toyota never offers a rebate on the Tacoma. I have not seen one in many years.

At most I'd pay invoice plus tax, tag, etc. Name your price and if they say no, walk out. If they don't stop you, wait till the end of the month and go back in with the same offer.

I just purchased a TRD off road 2 days ago $35,521 before tax & tags. The MSRP was $38,179. The dealership wasn't willing to go down any further than that on the tacoma or maybe we didn't negotiate hard enough.

My wife and I used Navy Federal. They also have an auto buying program which offers discounts from the MSRP. Good luck!

It's looking like Invoice isn't a bad offer. I know that the TRD OR is the flagship but I've been keeping an eye on the trucks that are on the lots in my area. There was close to 100 in my 100 mile radius and most of them lasted for a month or two. Then at the end of this month they slowly started going down. Now there's only like 15 in my 100 mile radius. I'm gonna hold out for the 17 because I want the 4.30 rear end and I really don't need a truck until I get back home in March anyways so I'll keep shopping. Does anybody know if I will be able to order a truck at invoice price or will they try to make me pay MSRP since it's not on the lot?

Looks like there's 27 new 2017 models headed towards my local dealer.... Including the exact truck I want... Haha. I can reserve it now.

I tried that, doesn't work on the 3rd gens. They will let you walk out all day. And when you come back, the truck would have been sold long ago.

    But obviously YMMV.
