09 V6 DCSB 6 speed with ~90K miles. Truck recently started making a really nice noise when i accelerate hard. I would describe it as a "rattle" from underneath the truck. There is just the noise - no clunks or whines. Only happens when accelerating - can't reproduce when revving, coasting, or idling. All U-Joints seem tight, all heatshields seem solid (even the one around the cat), exhaust seems fine. I have banged on everything i can under the truck with a deadblow hammer with no luck and have greased the u joints also with no improvement. Tried to get it on camera but you can't hear it over my Magnaflow muffler.

    Any suggestions?

You know that right side forward bolt that holds the bed to the frame?

I will check that...seems to be a "fast" rattle noise though.

Could a bad carrier bearing or u joint make a "rattle" noise when accelerating?

    bed bolts are tight.

noise ONLY happens when I am pressing the accelerator...if I let off, it stops...I tried a tank of premium to see if it was knock but that didn't change anything.

    any other ideas?

This. Seems to be a common issue causing the noise as you have described it.

Well what I'm wondering is if you hear it slightly right when you start it up and the RPM's overshoot a little bit. In that case you could have someone else start it while you are underneath and possibly help identify which one it is.

Does it sound like a hollow rattle sound or a hard rattle sound? Hollow like some rice in an oatmeal container, hard being like throwing rocks against a fence.
