    I've had my pre-owned 2006 Tacoma Prerunner TRD Off-Road since 2010. It has a factory-installed alarm.

For about a week now every time I unlock the truck with the fob it honks 4 times instead of two when disarming the alarm. Previously it only honked 4 times if the alarm had been triggered (either full or warning only). Now it happens every time. Pretty annoying, especially in a campground at night.

Anybody have a clue why this would suddenly happen? Both sets of keys/fobs exhibit this behavior so it's the truck acting funny not the fob battery or anything. How to troubleshoot?

One honk is too much. Just disengage the horn under the hood.

Glad you posted this, as I never knew there was a factory alarm option.

Since that's what it is, someone will have reference to shop electrical manuals that would likely be your starting point.

Sounds like one of your zones is going off and or not working properly. On most alarm systems when you disarm the system if a zone was activated, like a shock sensor, it will beep or honk multiple times.

This is why. I wonder though what is causing it to trigger. Probably a defective or too sensitive glass breakage sensor would be my guess.
