I am looking to trade my 2006 Taco DCSB Prerunner and wondering if $18k is reasonable for trade in pricing. I see KBB trade pricing is anywhere between 16-19k.

    54k miles
    all Power options
    Cruise
5100 Shocks / OME springs on front and AAL on rear
    Side Steps
    Tonneau Cover

    non-smoker
    Clean carfax
no body damage and not even a door ding
Rockstar II wheels and new Cooper AT3 tires

I don't see a problem accept dealers are dicks and will fight u for it.
    U could be there allday.

To be honest, mods dont really increase value when it comes to dealers. They dont care. But they'll be quick to slap a bigger pricetag for the next sucker.

U do have a rare color to so that will help.

wow... Edmunds says $12600 that's disappointing. I'm surprised as the difference between the different estimates between Edmunds, NADA and KBB ... $12,600 - 18500 range

Personal sale would net you more money. If KBB says it's worth 18K then you would be lucky to get 12-14 from a dealership. Of course they might add a little extra if you are buying a new truck from them.

I'm in the opposite boat. Trying to buy a truck and when I go to edmunds to appraise the car I'm interested in it says 16,981. Dealer is asking 24,995. I bet they gave the guy less than edmunds trade in value. I used to sell cars for a little while, 5,000 mark up on used cars and in some cases even more.

Go to cars.com, you can put a free ad in with 5 pictures and it expires after 30 days but then you can just renew it. Sold two cars that way.

    Good luck!

Being a Prerunner definitely hurts the value too.

Selling outright will get you more more money for the sale.

Depending on your states taxes, it may benefit you to trade. Lets just say you go out and buy a $10,000 vehicle. The entire $10,000 will be taxed. So if your sales tax is 6%, you will pay $600 in taxes.

Now, if you trade in a vehicle that is, lets say $6000, that will be deducted off the price of the new vehicle for taxation. Another words, the $10,000 will be dropped to $4,000 before its taxed. So you sre only taxed on $4000 instead of $10,000.

Nice looking truck! Dealers lean towards values from NADA (Nat'l Assoc. of Auto Dealers) instead of KBB or Edmunds.

Check listings of similar models in your area and get a feel for what you could realistically sell it for privately. That information is very valuable when you start talking trade-in with dealers.

PS - hope you enjoy your new Ridgeline :boink:

Dealers in my area have started using the KBB cash trade in offer.
