Will a 2011 taco radio work in 2008?

Question? Will a 2011 tacoma radio unit work in my 2008 tacoma. Friend was going to replace his 2011 taco radio with an aftermarket. I was thinking of putting it in my 08. Thanks.

 

Yank yours out, look at the plugs, see if his matches. If they are the same it should work just fine.

 

So does anybody know? I know This is an old thread but I'm in the same boat.

 

Btw it's a non jbl like my factory.

I would just compare the rear plugs but I no longer have my stock one since IV been running a double din for years. I know they have the steering wheel control and 6 disk vs 1 disk. And the newer one had MP3. That's about all the differences I remember

 

Should work just fine, I'm pretty sure Toyota didn't change anything until 2012 which main thing that changed was the antenna plug but you can get adapters on eBay. Also 2012 and up radios will require a little bit of trimming somewhere to make fit it older vehicles or you will have to get the center dash console with the A/C vents from a 2012 or up to go with radio to put in older Tacos

 

I'll give it a try. My pioneer double din has been acting up the past few weeks, so I think I'm just gone go back to stock
