I just replaced my OEM JBL speakers and deck with aftermarket Kenwood speakers as well as deck in my 07 Extended Cab Tacoma. The sound quality is great, however, in this process, I believe that something happened and I lost the bass in the stock subwoofer that comes in the truck. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone have a way to trouble shoot it or solve it?

Did they run new speaker line from the head unit or use the current harness? Did you run an external amp to the new speakers?

If you just hooked up the system like a basic deck you will lose the JBL sub. Go to Crutchfield.com, plug in your truck, choose any stereo deck and then click on "See the installation gear you'll need." Doing the basic install does not retain the sub.

I did the aftermarket harness as well as the steering controls. When a song comes on, you can here a very subtle sound coming out of the subwoofer, but it's not bass. It sounds more as if the sub has been blown, which I know it isn't because it was working just hours before.

Which harness did you go with? Generally the sub preout on a deck is turned off by default. Make sure it is active. Make sure the level (gain) and frequency cutoff is set correctly on the deck for the sub.
