    SOLD 8/12

Ive decided it's time to part with my Tacoma and go after a newer full-size diesel. Also moving from Ohio to central PA in a week and a half so I'm motivated to sell it.

    2001 Toyota Tacoma, access cab, SR5 & TRD packages, 4x4, 3.4 V6, 5 speed, and 130k miles.

    37CBD792-06D5-4E88-9494-DA2DE407B063_a3039cf039ab4b265823b60a8b4a449b8b98fbb8.jpg

PROBLEM: frame is rusting through, mostly in the rear portion. It is the original frame.... There is a hole above the rear passenger leaf spring mounting point, and the rear passenger cab mount is rusted through. I don't have time to fix it or deal with it.

Would sell it with the new Cooper discoverer at3/powdercoated tundra rims for $4500. Stock 1st gen wheels with worn out tread for $4000 FIRM.

My cell is 740-624-1633. May or may not have service due to where I live.

I will add more pics soon.

    Thanks,
    Karl

Have you, or a dealer, run the vin to validate that it is eligible for a frame replacement? Toyota must have inspected and preformed preventive maintenance (undercoating) before the deadline to extend the frame warranty. If you have not checked it out, if you post the vin one of us will check on the Toyota owner's website.

I have already been to a Toyota dealer and they checked the history on it. They have confirmed that the undercoating has not been performed and I am therefore out of the warranty period.... Trust me if I owned this truck longer than a year, it would have been done, but when I bought it, the 15 year recall just expired.

It's too bad the prior owner(s) did not follow through with the warranty requirements. If they had, depending on the in service date, a 2001 could still be under warranty (2001 plus 15 is 2016), and it seems that if you owned it for a year (purchased in 2015) it would have at the time you purchased it. But, Toyota made it clear to owners what they had to do. I've owned four tacomas, two pre 2001 models which where bought back and one 2001 which had its frame replaced. My 2003 just passed its annual frame inspection (it didn't enter service until 8/2003 - so covered until 8/2018). I'll never understand why an owner ignored the warranty notices. I hate to see one go down like this for no good reason.

There are a few places selling weld on parts to bolster rusted Tacoma frames through. Good to see you are up front about it. Good luck with the sale.

It is a bummer. It's got tons of life left, other than the frame. No other problems really.

But i can't sell something such as a truck without making the buyer fully aware about a frame problem. I just can't ever get myself to be a dick.
