I was trying to install a home link mirror this evening. I soldered a connector into the mirror harness and now my car locks do not work. Some light is intermittent. I also get a check charging system warning.

I returned the wires back to factory and reinstalled the factory mirror. The errors and faults continue to be present.

Any ideas what's wrong? Fuses to check?

The mirror works but the errors and locks are still occurring.

    Going to dealer tomorrow.

if you want people to help you need to show the wires you soldered into. Otherwise nobody knows what the hell you did and can only reassure the fact that you goofed up your truck.

I probably wouldn't tell the dealer you mucked with it.... unless it's obvious you modded something.

Found a blown fuse. If your door handle quits responding, go check ECU-8 NO.3 it's a 10A fuse in a bank of three. Once you replace it, learn the lesson I learned which is unplug your battery before working on the truck. I am a dumbass. That is all.

Blown fuse means to me you sent a hot to ground or you somehow pulled 11 amps with a mirror. You might have soldered the wrong wires together.

I failed to order plug and play. So I had to put the connector on to
the harness. Hard lesson to learn. I am outside the return window for the mirror. All seems good now.

I'm confused in what your saying but why didn't you just splice in behind the factory connector?

I did when I repaired it. Another hard lesson learned.

Electrical noob error for the win.

Being honest here to help someone else avoid the same mistake.

Pretty shitty of them to give you no power front seats, no 4dr express up&down windows, driver's side only one touch door open, no remote tailgate lock-unlock and on. But it is what it is and I can't for the life of me figure out why that is.
All that stuff is available on much cheaper models and mass produced across their lines.

    Cheers!

I would rather have a newer truck without the electronics but everyone is different

That's one reason I'm glad I got the SR5 instead of the TRDOR, or the ltd. Much less stuff to go wrong and much cheaper to replace.
But creature comforts are nice to have and I've experienced no issues with all that tech on my 4R ltd which is pretty much used on the Taco.

    Cheers!
