What should I do? Here is the situation: shortly after I bought my 2016 TRD Sport I brought it back to the dealer where I purchased it for transmission service (500 miles). It had a real bad delay and the shifting slipped constantly. I told them to check the fluid because according to the Internet forums, some were being shipped low. When I picked it up they said levels were fine and they could not duplicate the slipping or delay.

So yesterday, now my rig has 5k miles I decided to take it to a different dealership for the same issues and also a 5k oil change. When I picked it up the dealer explained my transmission was 1.8 quarts low and they also did the TSB for the delay.

My question and concern is the first dealership really screwed me. I've driven this truck hard for 5k and could possibly have done damage to the truck which may or may not be known for months or years down the road. Should I contact the first dealership? contact Toyota Corp? or just suck it up. Am I wrong to feel like I should be entitled to the extended warranty courtesy of Toyota?

I'd be pissed at that first dealership. Too lazy to do their job?

    None...yet!
So is it the same procedure to check the fluid for the 2016 tranny's as has been detailed in the 2nd gen post about how to check the fluid? (I'm thinking I better do it myself.)

Had a similar experience. First dealer said it was a little over half a quart low. The second dealer that did both tsbs said it was a quart low and filled it.

Call Toyota corporate explain your concerns. They are very valid concerns!!! Explain to them you want to open a case and lodge a formal complaint against that dealership. They may offer you an extended free platinum warranty. They Gave me a 125k mi/8 year platinum.

Yes, definitely open a case with corporate. They may not offer the warranty, you may very well have to ask for it, and keep asking every person you talk to at corporate. I had to keep asking as it wasn't offered, but I stayed calm and respectful and got the same extended warranty smitty99 got.

To be honest I think it would be fAir if every 16th owner got extended warranty. You just never know about this Atkinson experiment. I like my Tacoma a lot but sometimes it makes weird noises that I never heard before. :annoyed:
