Whenever I let a shop like NTB or Discount Tire take my truck in for any kind of work I always bring my torque wrench and give the entire truck a full look over before leaving the parking lot. Its not exactly that I don't trust them, but people who are in a hurry make mistakes. They have a line of customers and they work on tons of different vehicles, shit happens. That's why I check my own rig before leaving.

During my most recent experience I had NTB install 4 new 265/75r16 Copper Discoverer RTXs. Tires looked good, seemed balanced and alignment was good. After a couple days I re-inspected all my tires and noticed a gash about 2cm above the rim, roughly 1 1/2 long. It didn't look like a cut, more like weak rubber splitting after being inflated. I called and made an appointment to get the bad tire replaced, no biggy. Upon arrival he tells me he'll need to look at my tire to see if they have it in stock. This seems odd since I made an appointment just for this and they have a computer that tells them which tires they installed originally, but whatever. Turns out they don't have it and tell me to come back in the afternoon.

I come back after lunch and get my tire replaced. I've wasted a whole day on this tire and I'm in a hurry. So this is where I screwed up. I looked over everything, checked torques, but glanced over the tire a little to quickly. Turns out they installed a 245/75r16 instead of a 265/75r16. I drove the short distance home without realizing it. It wasn't until 2 days later that I noticed the lean while walking up to my truck to drive it again. Once again I go in to get it replaced for free, and again they didn't have my tire in-stock when I arrived and I'm told to return in the afternoon. This time I will not be in a hurry though, I will take my time to check everything like I normally do. 5 trips to NTB for one set of tires.

My only reason for posting this is because I watch people hop in their vehicles after getting work done and driving off without a second thought. I always check my truck and I still goofed. This was just inconvenient for me, but if it were one of my UCA balljoint nuts not torqued it could have been catastrophic.

Naw they fixed it for free. I take the blame because I was in a rush and didn't check my own stuff.
