I'm sorry I haven't been "subd" to my own thread so I did not even know I had all these people asking questions...(or how i got unsubbed :anonymous:

Since then, I scrapped the 12 non entune idea
Went with a 2013 touch screen no nav
And existing now I have a 2014 entune radio with navigation (non jbl) with radio surround and vents painted black to match the radio.

But now I'm being retarded and bought an entune radio from 2016 sport with entune and navigation (the radio itself is the same as my 2014 radio but the from face and buttons are completely different)

    image.jpg

2014 radio compared to the 16
    image.jpg

PS: i can change the leds on these radios very quickly :woot:

    Rod, Keep your thread going.
So your saying all the connectors are the same and the dimensions of the face are the same so it will fit in the existing surround?
Either way, please post up whats involved to make it work.

what year would best fit in my 06? I have my eyes on a 2013 radio. What would I have to do? Cut?

Like others said, you need that center piece. They're hard to find here so I recommend searching online salvage yard inventories. I used car-part.com for all my 2012 interior pieces, which are now installed  Warning, in order to remove the center piece, you have to first remove the driver side step in panel, the kick panel, the lower dash, and the upper dash. It took me about 10 minutes total, not bad. Only tool needed is a screwdriver for the plastic screws above the speedo and I think a 10 mm for the radio.

Also, when removing the upper dash, it's a GREAT time to wipe off the instrument cluster glass! Mine had a ton of dust and grime under the rings.
That is awesome! So did you get it to fit??

So glad I found this thread! I've been holding off a Tacoma purchase due to not liking the center radio console of the pre 2012, and right now the 2012+ are just a bit out of what I'm looking to spend!

Now I can get an older one and swap the head unit. I did a similar upgrade in my 07 4runner to a 13 Scion FR-S headunit. Plug & Play.

I just got my 2010 and was planning on doing a 2014/15 entune non JBL swap, but now I'm curious if the 16+ unit is really any more difficult to install? My big thing is keeping everything factory. Any ideas?

    Not hard
Same harness still. Just the fitment for the radio face plate you’ll have to figure and cut down

A lot of crap and too much money spent
@Jerez I noticed that you mentioned in the OP that with the 09 - 2013 swap you have to rewire the BT and voice controls. Do you happen to have pics of the harnesses and where the wires were taken from to where they were placed? I currently have the stereo in but these are the two items that are not working currently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Needing some help! Trying to hook up a 2013 non entune non jbl radio, into a 2011 non entune non jbl truck. I would like to change out the center dash piece so it fits flush but all the 12 dash pieces have no spot for the 4x4 control. Am I missing something? Also do I need to purchase any wiring harnesses or is it plug and play?

You need to buy the one for a 4x4 truck
And it’s a slightly different switch
