I test drove a 2012 v6 trd off road recently and was wondering if this is normal. I put it in 4 lo and the engine would rev up quite a bit before it would start moving like something was slipping or not fully engaged. I wasn't beeping. Anyone know if that is normal in 4 lo or what could be causing it? It also had a some what loud ticking noise coming from the engine, but it seems like that is normal? Thanks for any input.

The beeping means it wasnt engaged completely. I assume it was auto. Stopping the vehicle is a must.

It wasn't beeping. Yes auto. Put it in neutral and went from 4 hi to 4 lo.

I misread. It shouldnt rev up once engaged. It will just feel like its in super low gear once in 4 low.

So it's normal that with the truck stopped when I press the gas the engine will rev up, then jerk like it grabs or engages and start moving?

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
A little bit, it always feels like throttle is slightly delayed in 4lo.
Or transfer case hadn't completed shift before you gave it.

You are posting 2 different things here. Once 4 low is engaged, the engine doesnt just rev with no truck movement.

Now, when its in 4 low, its going to be more jerky than 4 high. Once 4 low is engaged, then you accelerate, it will want to lurch because its in low gear.

That's exactly what it was doing, revving before it would move. I thought maybe it wasn't engaged all the way, but there was no beeping and I could definitely tell it was in low.

Thanks hopefully that's it. I'll have to drive another one in 4 lo to see I guess.
