I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport with the JBL audio package; touchscreen, navigation and bluetooth all built in and want to keep the HU stock.

Question: Can I install an aftermarket amp with the JBL head unit?

I've seen the line-out converters that people are using, but no thread has had the JBL system, I'm wondering if there is a difference. I can't believe I'd need to put in a converter, one of the wires from the head unit must contain a signal for either the other amp and sub, or a line out i can tap to the RCAs of my amp.

I will likely be tearing apart my back seats tonight to look at what's back there, but any advice or a guide(that I was unable to find..I found many not or my rig) would be great!

To give everyone a little info on what I've gotten for my setup:

So I pulled out the back seats and the plastic trim pieces covering the back wall. The JBL amp that is back there doesn't appear to be a normal amp what so ever, there is no input leads or anything labeled, just 4 wiring harnesses.

So unfortunately I'm now stuck. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the JBL amp? Is there already a low level signal cable in there I can use to connect to the RCAs of my amp?

And I was just thinking, I may need to keep the JBL amp because it probably powers all the other speakers....

    LOL those pics are huge

Tested fit of the enclosure, and it looks like it should be perfect. Going to stop at Lowe's and pick up some longer bolts to be able to secure using the screw holes of the removed sub box.

Found some possibly helpful info in another thread, thought I should update mine in case anyone found themselves in this spot.

I believe I need to use an LOC(Line Out Converter) to tap into the sub wiring harness.

    New Link for the LOC

This looks like it may work for me, ordered!

Curious which wires are used from the 4 pin sub plug though..

This may be the correct wiring diagram, I will check it out tonight.

    Ordered some Ensolite from RAAMaudio.

I did just what you are wanting to do. Let me dig around and find the thread. I believe I posted what wires to use.

Now I will have to look to see what wires I tapped to run to the LC2i. I am not running an after market amp for the door speakers, just one for the subs.

Hey. Nice install. Did you have to cut the brackets of the stock amp? Or were you able to just unscrew them? I'm doing this same thing for my 2013 and the mounting brackets are one piece with the tabs that hold the circuit board in the housing. Either i have to cut them or fab up two new end plates.

The stock amp brackets do come off. There are a few screws that keep it attached to the amp. You will actually have to take some off that will allow it to slide off as you slide our the circuit board out a bit.
