if i was building a dune runner running 12 inch smoothies i would highly consider and look into the deaver options.

if i was planning on expo overland weight with a cap on, and wanna keep my lift without saggy butt, I would run dakar leaf pack plus add the d29xl extra leaf.

so as much as it seems this is a great viable option going from other members current experience, i personally find it annoying the fact i would be paying for something then removing away from it before using it installed, for the small difference in price if you are seriously looking for a low payload super soft flexy leaf pack to match a brand like King, seriously look into the deavers before pulling the trigger, out in your area you might even get lucky finding a used set, the west coast seems to have a stronger used market

mind you i say all this, as i just too possession of a dakar pack with the extra d29xl leaf for my personal rig...

I personally have run a few different leaf packs and I like the on-road ride from the Dakars the best. They are stiffer then stock but that is one of the gives and takes to gain additional performance, capabilities, and lift. I have run the pack in several different ways and the ride from the 3rd leaf being removed was quite a bit softer, IMO. I added more load so I put the leaf back in. To me, that is one of the benefits of this pack is that you can play with it and make it more suitable to your needs.

I think if the factory packs we designed with load in mind like other trucks the ride difference from the Dakars, or any other pack for that matter, wouldn't be as noticeable. But since Toyota put the factory packs on that they did it makes it that more drastic of a change.

With the 3rd leaf off did it feel softer than stock?

Not softer then stock. Honestly I didn't care for the stock ride it was to soft for my liking and it sagged so bad when something was put in the bed.

I had a customer who joked that if you put a beer can on the tailgate the truck is sitting on the bumps. ;)
